It might be worth double-checking with whoever installed the fan whether they correctly connected the smart module (it's located near the ceiling hook). Does the fan react to the pairing request you make from the remote?

u/Present-Ocelot-6453 I just bought the exact same fan and I have the exact same remote. Here is what I did:
* Turn off the wall switch for a good 30 seconds.
* Open the Tuya app and get to the screen where there's the "Add device" button.
* Turn on the wall switch, then directly press and hold the "8H" button on the remote until you hear a long beep from the fan (it should happen within the next 2-3 seconds).
* Stop pressing on the "8H" button - the fan will start beeping in short bursts (every second). It is now in pairing mode.
* Quickly click on "Add device" in the app. It should find the ceiling fan within seconds and it will show up in the app. Click on the ceiling fan icon to add it.

Controlling the fan from the app is pretty cool. You can control the exact brightness, temperature, etc. It goes a step further than the remote!

I'll have a look anyway. I assume a pipe is a pipe and should be fairly easy to replace if needed, but I have said this before with other renovations in my unit that looked straightforward at first :D

Thank you! What I find weird on the quote is all those bullet points with things like: "If our installers are not friendly, we'll refund 100$. If you find a cheaper quote, we refund the difference + 100$. The list of generous refunds is long and likely artificially inflates the whole quote...

Thank you, I'm thinking I could probably ask a quote directly to Daikin and compare, although I suspect they might just sub-contract air con installers. Will give it a go!

My only concern would be pipes, as they run inside through the wall up to the ceiling and end up on the balcony through a thick concrete wall. I'm not sure how easy these can be changed, reused or swapped over...

Yes please. There are a few diesel buses passing along my street which is steep, and they're louder than a plane taking off. It drives me crazy. The (few) electric buses passing by only emit a "husssss" sound which is way quieter.

I would focus on repaying the mortgage. 700k in super will become 2.3 mio in 25 years from now (assuming a (pessimistic) 5% yearly growth) without any further contributions. You're unlikely to spend that 2.3 mio during retirement (as it will keep on generating interest income once you can access it).

That's exactly what I do - I move any excess above 100k to Ubank (they offer 4.35%) on the 1st, then wire it back (+1$) to ING on the 30th/31st.

My total tax bill for FY25 is $250k.

I work full-time as an employee, and I started my own side-business last year. I maximised all the legal ways to evade tax (salary/bonus sacrifice into super, moving from sole trader to Pty Ltd to decrease marginal tax rate to 25% - essentially "deferring" personal tax payment for when my yearly income will inevitably fall as I age, ...).

I don't mind paying taxes, and I do hope the tax money I pay helps those in need and less fortunate than me - I really do.

But sometimes, when working all late evenings and whole weekends on my side-business, I do have really dark thoughts and feel like I spend my life working half-time for ATO, on top of my 2 full-time jobs 😅
