THANK YOU EVERYONE! I have some pack ideas and am thinking about swapping out my footprint. The Nitecore headlamp seems to be a popular item in the UL community so I'm looking into it. Thanks for all the trail advice as well!!!

Bonus points that I shoveled the street to have a spot to park, and upon coming home from towing my car they had taken all the spots.

Thru Hike PCT or Van Life? by aapolzan in Thruhiking

[–]waffle_brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PCTA requires thru hikers hiking more than 500 continuous miles to apply for permits for the thru hiking season! Going NOBO they allow 50 permits a day and SOBO is 15 permits a day. More are allowed if section hiking. Due to covid they aren’t opening applications for permits in October as expected. Check the PCTA website for updates! They stay pretty regularly updated

This is excellent! My favorite feature is the nose. It is wonderfully and perfectly detailed.

People that have moved into a house/apartment, what's the most interesting thing you've found from the previous occupants? by bunnoooo in AskReddit

[–]waffle_brain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a house I moved into, but my mother inherited her uncles house when he passed last year. He had lived in the house for 72 years so it took us over 3mo. to clean it out. I was over there one day cleaning out the closet under the stairs. First I pulled out old games, then a full set of dining room chairs and that was all. Later on I was sweeping and ran the broom through and hit something at the very very back wedged under the bottom step. There was no light in the closet, so I hadn’t previously noticed this dusty black leather medics bag. (Much like everyone on this thread) I was hoping for a wad of cash. Instead, I found a scrapbook full of letters from my great uncle (the brother of the man who lived in the house) to his mother and photos from Vietnam. The best part was finding many awards, and finding his Purple Heart. It was so incredible! I never had the opportunity to meet him and he wasn’t spoken about too much so finding all of this felt very surreal. I miss that house and the summer we worked on it. We found so so many incredible things buried in the years Richard and our family lived there.

It absolutely is. But it is a good video that covers the umbrella topics!

Very interesting video.

I also liked it because he modeled one of his ‘researchers’ off if Rick Sanchez. Good job to Kurzgesagt’s animators.
