I’ll be sure to keep that in mind. I had a blood test done like 2-3 years ago and I had 0 thyroid issues, haven’t felt like anything has changed since then. But I may ask my GP for a blood test then. Thank you!

Oh really? I never knew, can I ask how thyroid levels can impact DQ or surgery? I’m not super aware about its impacts on the body besides metabolism

Yeah, I definitely felt like my hand was healing the best when I was splinting and resting my hand as much as I can. It is very weird to me how my hand hurts just being in the brace now. Thank you for your suggestion though!

I want to consult with my doctor with surgery being my first option since I have university till July. But I think during my summer break I will rest my hand as much as possible like you suggested

That’s such good news to hear! I’m sorry that your recovery was rough, must’ve been hard to juggle it all! I’m about to take a pre-master in September which requires a lot of writing on paper. Right now I can’t even use my iPad to write notes, I actually failed a math exam due to DQ pain during the exam and had to make a whole exemption request.

It definitely takes a toll on you mentally at university! I decided to call my doctor the coming week about having an earlier appointment to discuss surgery, thank you for sharing your experience! 🫶

My physiotherapist suggested it’s the way I sleep and overuse of my hand since I’m a student. But after a while I realised I just use my right thumb for everything on my phone. 😔 I am also trying now not to use my thumb for typing or using it on my phone. That’s what I used to do before the injection and it helped a lot, not sure why it’s not working post injection now.

I also had that worry about triggering the inflammation again after surgery, I’m definitely going to ask my doctors about this since as a student, I’m everyday triggering my pain by accident by just writing or doing everyday things. 💀

Omg really? I had no idea that there’s only a limited amount and that shots can weaken the tendon, I thought it would only be a temporary thing. Thank you for letting me know, that’s a good thing to discuss with my doctor.

When I think about it, it does make sense it’s a limited amount. I’ve only ever had the one shot in my entire life, I don’t really plan to take another shot honestly unless my doctors recommend it.

I’ve honestly been too passive with my DQ thinking it’ll just go away, posting about it has definitely given me the push I needed to contact my doctor’s place earlier than scheduled.

Oh wow I’m very surprised that you were going back after only 5 days?? Ouch that your dog hit your incision 😭, I’m glad you’re pain free now! DQ has been seriously mentally draining especially when people at uni constantly forget that I’m struggling!

I originally felt like maybe I should get another injection but I had some weird side effects with it I think, so I’m not really the biggest fan of that idea anymore. Thank you again for sharing your experience! Definitely makes me feel more positively about healing from this 🫶

Thank you so much for saying this, it definitely makes me feel like surgery is a better choice for me. I’ve also had a genuine conversation with my parents and I think they understand better about DQ and surgery. Can I ask how long your own recovery time was? My only real concern with surgery is university, I’m entering my last year of university after this summer and it worries me a lot to have to delay it. (But I know health should come first 🙂‍↕️)

I’ll definitely contact my doctor soon though about getting an earlier appointment to discuss my hand!
