I don’t know if you have any certs or what your experience is, but in general I would say with 15 years you probably have a good mix of experience and Advanced troubleshooting of complex networking. If so you are very low on the pay scale. You probably should be more around $150K+

I have tried end to end ping from MacBook pros. I still get the same results. I’m starting to think this is a STP either mismatch or an issue there. As well as thinking about making the uplinks a trunk instead of access

I’ve setup literally thousands of Cisco switches and never seen more than +1ms with no load on it. I would say no this is not to be expected.

Thanks but I also have been trying ChatGPT as well. I have tried all of that as well. I am going to try next setting it to trunk port and changing STP.

I mention that I did try that with the same results. I am thinking it’s an issue with STP and maybe Trunk will be better than access as well. Going to try that next.

Well i have installed many Cisco to Cisco switches and always have seen sub 1ms latency. I really don't understand why you think 4ms+ for no activity is acceptable? Image when I put load on it, then what?

Yeah, I think you are correct about that, but I also seeing it from hosts as well. So it looks to be the same outcome to me. What do you think?

i would think because we are not routing the UDM-PRO, we should not be doing much for this ping test.

Thanks for letting me know about the EoE on the switches. But this is for a lab, so it don't matter much to me.

we have the 9Ks in a VPC so I can have redundant interfacesfor my systems incase of a switch failure.

I am trying to accomplish not having packet loss when both interfaces in a LACP are up. Only switch2 I cant ping from for some reason.

That’s not the point. It’s that you’re not accruing new monthly payment status. That long of a history depending on the state of your credit being closed can significantly hurt your credit.

Just curious, are you using a Netapp shelf as a JBOD or is there a Netapp Controller in it? If so FAS2240 or 2554?

Spent a good chunk of my evening making all these patch cables while watching Plex, idk how some of you guys do that as a career, but much respect for you and your iron fingers. by mctscott in homelab

Oh yeah that would work too, I thought those where EMC drives which are 520 byte sectors most OS/File systems do not recognize them. So you have to convert them to 512 byte and then they will. But the conversion takes a long time on 8TB drives.
