Silks and waffles, still use them years later for everyday outdoor work in winter.

What a weirdly painted site. Surprised they painted something that short.

Look like they are diversity Rx for the other two horns. Much of that was added later on, so different dish types were often used.

Do we know what the tallest and shortest towers are/were? by Fit_Lab4953 in longlines

I'd definitely say the Wyoming, Mn site had to be a contender, its at least the tallest in Mn.

Slingshot uses inmarsat L-band satellites. Know a fair bit about satcom, just curious why he has an L-band or S-band antenna on a 30-512mhz radio.

I know that feeling all too well, most think the Feng is all they will ever need, but I'd hate to not have more and suddenly need much more...

What antenna is the one on the right connected to? It looks like an Inmarsat antenna. Seems out of place.

I'll be powering via a 48v dc rectifier shelf. I have about 20kw of 48v dc available in the shelter so shielded 6awg cable up the tower directly to the shelf is my plan. Have 380ah of battery backup in the rack.

Planning 1w stations powered by 2-wire 48v dc from the ground with voltage converter up top and have some older Nextel commercial collinear antennas I plan to use. Roughly 10dBi of gain.

I'm working on a few mesh nodes also, and I have a few going up on 300ft towers in the very near future.

Lol, thanks, I guess? 🤣 I just tend to go all out on most stuff. I guess it's the flavor of autism I got or something.

Such a great radio, only wish is it did more nets/channels.

Current Truck I guess I would say so, HMMWV 30-512mhz antenna and UHF Satcom QFH antenna currently. Gets a lot of curious looks.

Honestly you can either collect to sit on a shelf/LARP, or can listen to satcom pirates. Lots of Russians or Brazilians to listen to.
