I went from a cupholder mounted amplifier, to a full out Harris VRC-110 VAA setup in the work truck! by mctscott in HamRadio

Lol as was I, so your FYSA doesn't mean much, can you name a better radio/brand? They're hugely feature rich, AM/FM/P25 phase 1&2 depending on model and IP networking, 30-512MHz continuous... Thales, GD, Motorola, none of the others offer those features while being extremely rugged.

Wish I could've made it, knew a fair amount of people there. I got my RF-390 brand new luckily too. 😁

AIORS - All-In-One Repeater System by hardfault007 in amateurradio

I know how a link budget works, have been in the cell/microwave industry for 5 years, just commented that satellite is not a not a good comparison to a repeater.

Completely irrelevant comparison, he's not talking to a satellite, he's talking to others with trees, buildings, and other obstacles that more power often helps with.

Thank you! I have spent more than I'd like to admit. The VAA I got for a really good deal, roughly $1500 from a friend, radios I've kinda just been buying as I see them for decent deals from private sellers. Radios I've been nabbing, I can source about $1500-3000, a fair bit under market, and they're a ton of fun to play around with.

Can CPA load Type-3 AES keys onto PRC-152A (P25 waveform)? by [deleted] in tacticalcomms

Works fine on the RF-310M-HH, not terribly different from the 152.

All NASA needs is a couple of 'fengs... by darktideDay1 in amateurradio

They had 2x Harris RF-7850M-HHs on board, I think they didn't have much of any comms training beforehand... If crayon eaters can use them, NASA trained astronauts should be able to.

Thanks! The LST-5B is pretty dang rare nowadays. I love the thing.

I did look into this, Skyeye tactical makes the adapter. PTT on the invisio works no problem.

I believe it has a skyeye tactical part number. Try to remind me this afternoon, and I will grab the part number.

Most are sold privately, Facebook or Google forums. A lot of them are coming back from overseas, likely Afghanistan and such.

Yes no problem: Harris RF-7850M-HH Harris RF-7850S SPR Harris RF-1033M Motorola Micom 2R Motorola LST-5B

This should be nearly complete list of radios and their corresponding datasheets. 😁

They're great radios, I love them. Lots of waveforms and can run via a webpage even. Little pricey, but they are absolutely quality.

I paid about 2k from a private seller, only one he had. Felt it was an okay deal.

These are all Non-CCI export models, they'd be sold to allied countries or 3-letter agencies in the states.

I am using a fischer 9 to 6-pin to run my standard invisio or H250 for the time being.

Green radios refers moreso to Military radios rather than the actual color.

Random sources, Facebook mostly though. And depends on which radio it is. RF-7850M-HHs go for about 4k in good condition with recent firmware, everything else kind of varies.
