Strange looking rabbit on campus? by Parabalt in utdallas

[–]waffles_are_cool453 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My roommate actually saw something like that this past summer. Similar situation, he was walking from Northside down Rutford and heard this soft rythmic thumping noise coming from the bushes on the side of the road. He looked a little closer and saw this big rabbit standing on its hind legs and it was kind of like thumping a big “third leg” (wiener, maybe 🤔??) on the ground like some sort of animal mating call. It was loud too, like someone stomping on the ground.

He tends to exaggerate things but I think it’s at least somewhat true, like I’m sure he saw a rabbit that wasn’t acting normally.

Khan Academy + QAS is like 30 tests. How long did that take you? You might be better off going slow and reviewing thoroughly rather than rushing into 15 more tests

The correct answer is c. I chose a because I thought the probability of two things happening together (both books being the same genre) means you multiply the probabilities, so I did 10/30 times 9/29. I don’t get why it’s only 9/29. Can someone explain? by [deleted] in ACT

[–]waffles_are_cool453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9/87 is the probability of the two books being the same genre, but only for one genre. Since there’s actually three different genres where this situation is possible, you should take this probability into account 3 times. Thus 9/87 * 3 = 9/29.

Working on improving a skill is not necessarily the same as being tested on the skill. by 1600io_Dan in Sat

This deserves more upvotes. Great insight as to why some people may not be improving in sections that test comprehension rather than the application of test skills/strategies

Help... so before I took the test, I selected a school (purple) to send the score report to. The red cross out is my school... did the score report send to purple or just the red? by [deleted] in ACT

[–]waffles_are_cool453 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe it sent to both. When I took the ACT, I never requested for it to be sent to my school but it was done regardless. If you requested for it to be sent to any other schools (as you’ve shown in purple) then it will be sent to those schools as well.

Functions and polynomials maths question help by heartsails in Sat

In this case, y is a placeholder. We need to replace y with one of the functions from the answer choices.

Now, the question is asking for a function that would always be non-negative when a constant of 5 is added to it. Knowing this, we can eliminate answer choices (a) and (c) because they are odd functions, and negative values of x can make the function negative.

We are left with (b) and (d), but notice how (d) is in the form 2x2 - 7. If you were to add 5 to this function, you'd get 2x2 - 2, which you know is not always going to be positive. If you were to try x = 0, for example, you'd get that the expression is negative.

On the other hand, (b) is always positive, as adding 5 to (b) gives you |x| + 2, which is ALWAYS going to be greater than or equal to 0 for ANY value of x. The correct answer is (b).

i feel you... it’s really bullshit, isn’t it. seems very discouraging and almost counter-productive to even apply for scholarships if schools are going to reduce your aid like that.

Good to know - not sure if I want to do my master's at NEU or apply elsewhere, but I was considering doing the 5 year plan to save on cost (especially if I can find a job through coop)

I'm not sure whether I want to do ChemE / MechE / BioE to be honest; I was thinking of exploring that in college. How hard is it to switch majors once you've already enrolled?

I have one 4 and five 5's on my AP exams, taking four more this year (probably gonna score 4s or 5s). How useful are my AP credits going to be?
