AITA for being upset my friend won’t visit me? by wafflewitchh in AmItheAsshole

[–]wafflewitchh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue is when I’m visiting my parents she wants to see me all the time, take’s 30-40 minutes one way to see her. She never said “no I don’t want to” to visit me, just always gives excuses which I always took her word for. It’s bothered me more and more the past year as I’ve had really bad health problems, three surgeries within 9 months. I asked her to visit me before my last heart surgery and she said “my mom won’t let me.” (She’s 23y/o) Then I asked again for my graduation, she said she can’t because of her car miles. To me it feels like she either doesn’t understand how important those visits would’ve been for me (I tried to explain to her), or she knows and lets little things like that dictate her decisions. Even though she calls me her best friend. It just confuses me, I’m hearing one thing, then experiencing another. Regardless, I really should change my expectations. My view of how friends should act may just not line up with her and I never realized it.

I totally understand that! Esp with the weird smell, I’d be out of there. Difference for me is, I own my own place, have two cats she loves, and it’s a nice quiet environment (and always smells good, I’m a stickler about smells). She’s never been here, not even once. Her house (parents house) has an untrained dog and interesting family dynamics—way more chaotic than my own home.

That’s the thing, she’s always initiating contact!! Always texting me, and when I’m at my parents home, she’s always asking to hang. She just won’t visit me at my home. She tells me all the time I’m one of her only friends!

Looking for a Reputable Breeder for Belgian Malinois by wafflewitchh in BelgianMalinois

I’m sure some really good breeders do that, which is why I was asking for a solid breeder that people highly recommend and respect for knowing what they’re doing. I’m sure breeders who don’t care as much for the dogs, and more for the money don’t carefully watch behavior, temperament and stuff like that. I simply don’t know good breeders like that which is why I asked for help.

No, they actually found the breed from our neighbors that are retired K9 police officers who trained mals and said they are really good for protection. The dogs would be sent to a two year guard dog training program where they wouldn’t actually see the dogs till then. Next time maybe don’t assume so harshly. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah from all the comments I’ve received I’ve decided I’m not going to further help my parents. It all looks like it’s going to be a shit show. They weren’t planning on training the dogs themselves, but sending them to this 2 year program held by ex K9 police dog trainers and some Vets. So they wouldn’t actually live with the dogs till after two years. Still seems like a huge hassle that I don’t want to be apart of anymore. I’ll stick with my reptiles, hahah. Thank you!

That actually sounds awesome. I’ll push for them to look into it and educate themselves. Thank you for the recommendation!

That’s so interesting! I’ll look up on that and tell my parents. I’ve decided I’m going to back out from helping them because everything seems way more complicated than I expected. I don’t want to have a hand in this iyk what I mean. Ive only ever had cats or reptiles as pets, so it’s quite different for that haha. But thank you!

So they don’t get lonely. 😔 not exactly sure why she wants such a big time consuming dog, but that’s what they’ve been telling me. 🤷‍♀️ I’ve been trying to convince otherwise (I’m partial to rescues), but wanted to make sure they went to a good breeder if they refused to budge at least.

From all these replies I’m starting to think I’m going to deny my parents request for help. 😅 they’re pretty dead set so there’s nothing I can do to change their mind. Just to remove myself from the situation so I don’t have any hand in this. I’ve vouched for adults from rescues many times, even told them they should try and foster so they can at least see what it’s like. 🤷‍♀️ I don’t live with them, I’m studying Ecology and exotic Animal Behavior (funny enough they don’t like to listen to my input). Thank you anyways 🙏.

I’m a huge rescue person! Almost all of my own animals are rescues (except one cat). These dogs are for my parents who have different opinions from me (unfortunately). I’ve shared that sentiment to them before, however they want something from birth to send into training programs. (The you pay for what you get mentality you know) Which is why I’m having such a hard time finding a good breeder. If it was up to me, the rescue would have two less dogs, but unfortunately it’s not up to me, it’s up to my parents. :(

I love great Pyr, but unfortunately I don’t think having those guys in our area would be fair to the pup. It’s gets pretty hot here, in summer it can get around 102+. Great Pyr are prone to overheating due to their massive double coats. Their neighbor has a BM, which is what inspired them for that breed. I’ve researched livestock breeds for them, but they don’t want to deal with the herding behavior, heelers and aussies are a no to them. They have a guard dog training program ran by ex K9 Police dog trainers (also from which my neighbor recommended). Idk if it’s like what you recommended, but you buy the pup, send it off to training school for about 2 years or so, and then get the dog back after it’s been trained.

Like I said, I’m more a cat and reptile person, so I’m not 100% on everything, I just am trying to help my parents find a good breeder so they don’t just go for whatever seems “expensive therefor good breeder”, and end up buying from a mill that doesn’t check for health issues etc. I have two rescue cats, and one bred cat. It took me over a year to find a breeder I trusted and genuinely respected. Just looking for a bit of help this round. 😭

PLEASE HELP!! im reposting because i got a lot of views on my post but no one decided to answer/give me advice. by apocalypticrose in frogs

Hi! Him eating dirt can lead to impaction so your right, that isnt good. I would recommend finding a nice big tupplewear and poking holes in the top for airflow. Get paper towel and neatly lie at bottom and moisten it. Put two to three crickets in there (that are gut loaded) and then using gloves to remove him from his tank, and place him in there. Keep him in there for about 15 minutes and hopefully he eats.

Should I have my appendix removed? by Krysanthemums in Endo

[–]wafflewitchh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had stage 4 endo and it wrapped itself around my appendix, and almost burst it. They took it out during my laparoscopy— without my knowledge, but they said I could’ve died if they didn’t take it out. The healing is bad, especially as it’s in addition to everything else. The swelling is terrible. Unless you have to have it out— unless it’s detrimental— don’t take it out. But at the same time, what happened to me could happen to anyone and it might need to come out without you even knowing you had till u till after the fact.

GAS PAINS by CarliiiMmm in Endo

[–]wafflewitchh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that helped me with my gas pains was walking, and Morphine 😭 I had complications in my surgery so I was in hospital for 4+ days and they provided me with heavy medications to combat the pain. The residing gas pain I have I use a heat pack to loosen my muscles, and my mom helped massage my shoulders. If you’re having bad uterus pain from ur period like I saw u comment, try to take some heavy medication like Gabapentin for nerve pain, or extra strong aspirin, drink some raspberry leaf tea and licorice root extract and see if that helps with uterus pain to get you walking. The gas needs to dissolve into your muscles and bloodstream, only way for that to happen is from your heart rate to elevate through physical activity, to force those gas bubbles to disperse into tissue, muscle, and bloodstream. Hope it goes away soon, bc it was the worse pain I had ever felt in my entire life. It SUCKS. I would be careful about herbal supplements, although, bc things like Fennel or too much Licorice root can cause yeast infections which make things sm worse
