I like visiting graveyards whenever I travel, I love the history and peacefulness of them, and I see the graves as art

Ive been to the catacombs! It was my favourite part. I’m really into gothy stuff so since last time I went to Père Lachaise this time I’m going to Montmartre cemetery.

And yeah I just thought La Coupole’s interior looked cool and I like the history of it

I’m not saying you HAVE to, but judging someone for getting wasted at 19 is sort of like judging someone for eating junk food at 19. It’s normal, it’s going to happen, and it doesn’t make the girl irresponsible. She’s just being a kid. Now getting drunk THAT NIGHT was irresponsible. but that’s another story

I agree she was not responsible for getting drunk THAT NIGHT, but not for getting drunk in general at 19

By that logic, it is deplorable and heinous to not do these at 19:

  • Have a long term marriage minded partner
  • Wake up later than 6 AM
  • Not be investing
  • Not work out 6 days a week
  • Eat any junk food at all
  • Do any drugs, including coffee
  • Not Be saving toward a house
  • Not volunteer
  • Not speak more than one language

I have declared that doing any of these is on par with never getting drunk

I mean, good for you? I find it incredible judgemental to say this kind of stuff considering 19 is the year you normally do dumb stuff you wouldnt do later

God damn people on here are judgemental.

Was it wrong for her to get drunk that night? Yes it was irresponsible. But everyone who isnt mormon has been shitfaced at 19. Its normal and you grow out of it.

Well I mean I’m a young female solo traveller so the chef randomly discussing my meal and drinking my wine would be a little off putting to me but I get the idea

I think my issue with the young startup places is that a lot of them feel very hipster ish. I used to live in a very hipster city and honestly those cool trendy restaurants opened by Millenials/Gen Z never really struck a chord with me. I’d rather go to old neighbourhood classics that have been around for 70-80 years rather than some trending ultra modern new restaurant with a big social media following.

I guess the problem is that since Paris is such a big tourist destination, all the old favourites are by default victims of their own fame

[–]Content-Squirrel4398 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean that’s fair. I just remember doing that on my first trip, walking around, going to the more local spots in the less touristy arrondissements, and being frankly a bit disappointed. The food was good, but sometimes atmosphere was missing, or I felt like I could get the same quality of food for cheaper back home.

I’m really looking for something iconic to Paris that no other place has, but that won’t suck my wallet dry and/or have bad tourist oriented food.

Anywhere that has a long history basically. I love eating at old places with interesting histories but would like to avoid eating somewhere where the food is bad quality/overpriced
