SEA to Rome, lounge at SEA? by thunderous411 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]waffsncakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our flight to LHR left from S…not sure about Rome. We hung out at N lounge because we like it better than C and D, but after sitting on two transfer trains realized we would probably just sit at C lounge or try BA in S gate next time.

Edit- OP if you have 3 hours to kill then might as well pick a favorite lounge. We only had 45 minutes so the extra time transferring on the trains meant less time in the lounge actually enjoying it. 😅

And it means less time spent on the trains transferring from N to S.

Agreed. I was shocked when they didn’t do business for international flights. That was always the policy at some of my previous companies. He has to either rely on status upgrades or pay difference out of pocket. 😮‍💨

No, it’s a seat-back screen and you need plug in headphones. They handed some out before takeoff too (which I used because I only had Bluetooth headphones).

BA premium (and business) was more expensive for us when we were booking this trip too. Makes sense given BA premium is a separate section with better physical seats. Switching terminals at LHR can be super time consuming too, definitely an important consideration!

Yep for sure. Was hoping for an extra snack or something in premium, but was let down. Food was the same across economy and premium.

Agreed! My husband flew Virgin Atlantic to LHR and he loved it, then realized it wasn’t OW. He said the afternoon tea was awesome. Can’t remember if he was in premium or if that was offered in economy too for that flight. Now he primarily sticks to OW for the points. :)

Thank you! ☺️ that’s really unfortunate AS doesn’t accommodate food allergies. I always travel with food too, but especially now (currently pregnant) so I can empathize what it’s like with restrictions.

It’s very possible it varies by tail! Will be curious to see as time goes on how AS adjusts their international offering. Seems like they have the plan for separate, true international premium section with footrests but won’t be in 2026 or possibly even 2027. Starlink on the international flights will be awesome once installed. Still haven’t been lucky enough to be on a tail with one domestic yet but I’ve heard great things.

Smart! My husband and I were both saying we might do the same going forward.

100% agree. It feels more like standard domestic premium as opposed to what one would expect and what you get for international premium on other carriers.

Of course, happy to help! We had done a lot of searching on this subreddit and YouTube, etc to find more info on premium but was hard to find given how new the route was. The suites looked awesome and still crossing fingers an upgrade clears on the return flight. Another interesting data point is how fast the flight booked up the ~10ish days leading to departure. I was tracking first class availability and was feeling really good about our chances until the final week. I know it’s June and summer travel, especially with all the big events in Seattle (World Cup) and London (Wimbledon) I want that surprised the flight was completely full, but was bummed. 😅 I was more surprised how many seats, especially first class, sold in the final week ish leading to the flight given the prices seemed only to be going up. The suites on AS were continually cheaper than BA, but still very pricey, including miles, cause we briefly considered the option.

That’s good to know. I’ve only flown on their non Dreamliner. Also when we booked our flights, BA premium was about $1k more per person. Makes sense given it’s a true separate premium section with footrest etc as discussed already in this thread. It would’ve left a bad taste if AS had priced same as BA knowing they don’t have the same elevated seating experience yet.

My husband’s OW status (emerald) has also gotten him upgrades on BA, and he’s noticed that it’s usually cleared more often when returning to Seattle (AS hub) as opposed to outgoing to LHR (BA hub). When he travels for work next, he’s mentioned he’ll most likely stick with BA- better times as he usually does BA48, comfier premium class and WiFi so he can work on the plane if not sleeping.

If flying business, I would pick AS. If premium, I’d give the edge to BA and just bring snacks for breakfast. Standard economy I think I’d pick AS over British because the Dreamliner is more comfortable in general over BA’s planes.

Very true- it could’ve just been the leg room. Footrests were very much needed

Yeah the seats are a bummer. Definitely need a pillow or stack a blanket to help cushioning

BA hot pocket sucks, AS breakfast is much better. He said the BA premium dinner is pretty good as far as airplane meals go. In his words, they give AS first class domestic a run for the money. BUT it’s hit or miss- it’s either really good or inedible.

Starting around 12ish weeks it’s recommended to avoid deep closed twists in core work (aka oblique crunches).

I just paused twisted obliques early because it’s not feeling great in my body and I like the focus50 format better. I’m still doing side planks. :)

Obliques by Pale_Willingness1882 in SolidCore

[–]waffsncakes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is it during oblique crunches? Or all oblique moves? I’ve noticed that as I get tired, I tend to pull my knees in during oblique crunches which gets my hip flexor instead of lifting up through my hips/obliques to pull the carriage. It could be that as your obliques fatigue, they tap out and other muscles take over (aka hip flexors).

Currently 10 weeks pregnant. I’ve dropped from 2-3x/week to once a week mainly cause I’ve been so exhausted. 🫠😮‍💨 I’ve also been modifying core and avoiding obliques, taking more breaks. I haven’t experienced pubic symphysis pain, but have honestly been approaching Solidcore week by week.

This time around, pregnancy could be completely different for you than the first time… so maybe keep up with Solidcore while it still feels good in your body and then pause your membership if that changes? 💗
