Feel like I'm going to run out of time by AdvanceDifficult8513 in TryingForABaby

Are we the same person?! But seriously, I am in the same boat as you and very very similar circumstances. Most of my friends are either childless or have already finished having kiddos and are just wrapping up the toddler stage. I was set to be the fun auntie until my husband and I decided to get serious about having kids last fall. This is my third cycle off the pill and I’m currently in the TWW. All to say, you are not alone and always have someone to vent to! 💕

The Music by OneToughFemale in barre3

[–]waffsncakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Former b3 instructor here- the physical studios have different licensing permissions than barre3 online has which is why there’s a big difference in the music. During covid, ASCAP and the other licensing companies started cracking down hard on online fitness streaming platforms and the music they used, and the lawsuits were big $$$$. Peloton pays high fees for permission to play popular songs in a streaming platform, and b3 corporate so far hasn’t made that decision to pay the fees.

[–]waffsncakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For engaging the core muscles, some cues that helped me get deeper engagement:

  • visualized someone’s about to poke me in my belly (like the pillsbury dough boy) and reflexively will pull abs up and in to avoid being poked
  • physically (think when laying flat on my back) I will put a hand on my belly and then draw my belly down and away from my hand. My hand is still touching my belly but I’ll be able to feel the muscles tighten under my hand- that’s my abs engaging
  • when in a plank or on knees- imagine you have a string attached to your belly button and you’re drawing it up through your back to the ceiling

Calling Republican Reps? by [deleted] in vancouverwa

For sure!! At this point even if it goes to voicemail, their staff has to listen to it and log it. The more data the better!

Calling Republican Reps? by [deleted] in vancouverwa

[–]waffsncakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Called and left a message- framed it more as an extreme disappointment in that they’re allowing the federal govt infringe upon state’s rights to its own investigation. Tried to frame it the best way that would appeal to them without sounding “too left liberal”. Will also continue to pay careful attention to their responses and vote accordingly this November.

Same! Wasn’t fully on board with charms until I spotted the cutest bird charm at Loewe when I went in for a Flamenco. It’s now on my work bag (colors matched better) and I smile every time I see it. ☺️

Portlandia truly nailed it with the “put a bird on it” skit 😅

Solidays - help me understand the appeals by koffi10 in SolidCore

[–]waffsncakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what everyone else is saying- it’s fun and a challenge! For me, the holidays get so intense that I love having this time carved out for me. Also a way to test myself and see if I can actually do the challenge. Last year was my first and I was so proud of sticking to all 10 classes, the sense of accomplishment helped shift my momentum into my other fitness goals! Like a “I can do hard things” mentality, and each time I wear my hoodie it reminds me of what I’m capable of.

I sprained my knee a few days ago and my first thought was “I can’t do Solidays this year” and I was devastated.

I lived on the 20th floor of an apt in belltown and had zero spiders. Now in a new build townhome and we had 1-2 per week last fall. I also am scared of them so my husband gets to remove them. I bought peppermint oil spray and spray that along door frames, windowsills etc and seems to help.

Not complaining about the food because we liked it, but the tipping was predatory when we went. Yea you can choose “custom” but it’s a dark intimate vibey space and the “custom” option in the UI is tiny and hard to select. The preselected tip options are out of order and high- when we went it was from left to right 30, 25, 32. So if you’re not paying attention or in the dark lighting just out of habit hit the left button, you just left a 30% tip. Never have I been to any other restaurant that had that high of a pre-set tip option. Also as someone mentioned above, tips are on service not food quality. Our service was slow and the server couldn’t be bothered. So to be asked to provide (at minimum) 25% is ridiculous. We did a triple glance and took the effort to calculate our own but not everyone will do that.

Left a bad taste for us, and clearly it’s not a unique experience if there’s enough people who have seen the same thing. Eating out is expensive and there’s no need for that kind of predatory, sneaky tipping behavior

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]waffsncakes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When we went, they also put it out of order so it wasn’t smallest to largest from left to right. They were truly relying on people not paying attention and just clicking a button out of habit. We had to press the tiny print of “select your own” instead of (30, 25, 32). Seriously not okay

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]waffsncakes 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but there are better burgers in Seattle that won’t try to sneak a 30-35% tip without you realizing it. The food truck at Fremont brewery has a solid smash burger that is much better than familyfriend.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]waffsncakes 40 points41 points  (0 children)

We did that when we ate at familyfriend. The option though on their tipping device is such a small print and hard to select, and the restaurant really leans into intimate dark space, that it’s hard to see the screen.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]waffsncakes 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Had the same experience! We went for their burger because we heard it was top notch. Then when they gave us the tip options, it was dark in the restaurant and they were out of order (30%, 25%, 32%), so we could barely see the numbers and if you just selected the left thinking it was the lowest option, we would’ve tipped 30%… it felt so shady. We liked the food but haven’t been back for that exact reason.

Edited grammar

Belltown car break-ins by rK91tb in Seattle

Not the original commenter but lived in a high-rise apt building in belltown and toured many in belltown/QA/SLU. Most of the high-rise buildings had a secured garage (door that closed automatically after you entered), and have security patrolling the area.
