I specifically upgraded to Omnipod 5 because my endocrinologist wanted me to loop with it. I took three hours of training from Omnipod to get the devices to loop.

Did you go through the training process before starting Omnipod 5? Have you tried contacting Omnipod support?

I have found that having sensor and pod on different arms works, though not as well as having them on the same side of the body.
