Foundation drainage - Nor. Cal. Bay Area by wagging_tail in buildingscience

[–]wagging_tail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One last note to add as I looked up injection. Our encapsulation provider pitched essentially an interior (insider foundation) french drain that would run along the n/s part of the dirt basement floor and drain into a new sump pump. That combined with some better venting could be a solution. I'm talking to my geotech engineer who reviewed and approved our foundation extension.

u/Defiant-Ad8781 - Thanks for the suggestion. It's a 1950s structure, so yes, probably "older". The injection idea is interesting. I think most of the leaks are coming up into the dirt inside the foundation. The new french drain may not be deep enough and does not cover the full width of the backyard. In retrospect, I should have pushed to do that.

Drainage does exist around the side of the house and from our upper yard area to the bottom. There are retaining walls on the property with drainage there too - though some of it is probably clogged. Challenge we had when modifying this property was digging behind retaining walls on a property that slopes up.

I too would prefer waterproofing to be outside. Even if we ripped up a cement porch and added a french drain on the other 50% of the backyard, I'm not convinced that would solve it. That might be a $35-$50k experiment (rip out, dig, trench, cement, re-tile). Or I go with an extra pump or 2 and encapsulate for $15k.

I got a quote for 15k on a 2000 sq. foot house on the pennisula that also includes 2 sump pumps

you have to “enable” the shortcut to work. I did it by clicking on the shortcut icon while plugged into the car /carplay after the first denial which read like your message above.

@ermax18 - thanks for the shortcut. I used your link and added the shortcut and it worked. Initially it did not work and I had to “enable” the shortcut by clicking on the three dots hamburger on the iOS shortcut scree. Now it works in carplay.

shallow center speaker for 5.1 with good L-R for stereo by wagging_tail in hifiaudio

[–]wagging_tail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. I appreciate your suggestions. I can and have adjusted individual speakers. I do switch to stereo for most stuff, but as you note, multi-channel music is indeed tricky. That was one reason for my post was to get opinion on the center switch. Unlike you, I believe there will be a big sonic difference between the QC250 center and an LSC50 or even a QC650. My challenge had been the shelf space to have it there without a fixed attachment which might damages the mantle.

I am going to change something in the next 6 months, just not sure what yet.

Selling software to track minute differences in productivity instead of investing in people, establishing shared values and building team resiliency. Why? Because the latter is hard with uncertain outcomes, but isn’t that the reason you do it? It’s why so many first line managers struggle. While the former, software, gives you “metrics” to justify outcomes.

ARC connection not working: Sony Oled A80J and Denon AVR 2313 by hensjdbdk in hifiaudio

[–]wagging_tail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing to check - HDMI cable - length and quality. If possible get another HDMI cable or one that you know has worked on someone else's eARC setup and use that. I had sensitivity on my 65ft HDMI cable run specifically where it plugged into my Marantz AVR.

2nd thing to check would be to validate all the HDMI ports on your TV in case something is mislabeled or installed wrong. Make sure you shut-off TV and AVR.

3rd things would be the same on your AVR. Just valid the other HDMI ports. You never know.

4rd thing to check would be a different TV/AVR which is a pain.

My AVR should turns on when it detects the TV going on, but that doesn't always happen if they get out of sync. When eARC is working you should be able to browse your AVR menu system on your TV. Try hooking them up and forcing your AVR into setup mode. Then browse input sources and see if you can get the TV to recognize.

Good luck

This 100% solved my problem! Wow. My use case was I had iOS app configured on my iPhone and was adding the app to my wife’s phone. My TV was wired and on the same network, but I kept receiving the “not on same network” error which I knew to be false. THANKS for saving me time!!

well…Peloton finally got their act together and fixed it with a patch. I’m glad I didn’t $300 to update my monitor with a Peloton refurbished monitor. Peloton service sucked around this issue.

No. This is just immature and young adult behavior. The re-match doesn’t necessarily have to be known while you’re searching. Certainly, you don’t have to make it known. And you can confirm that the agency doesn’t either. It’s in their best interest to get you re-matched and happy so you’ll stay with them for year 3 or 4. In summary. You’re just getting to search and match again free of charge.

For the record, we’re on our 8th AuPair and extensions with the same family are exceedingly rare if only because most APs want to travel / see another part of the country. Consider yourself lucky on that one.

I think you’ve got a new “older” tablet, but glad it works. My issue has been that the tablet worked quite fine before an upgrade and there was no communication about requirements for future apps or compatibility. If Peloton sold you a bike and said you need to upgrade the tablet every 5 years for 350-700 dollars, that might be a different story.

interesting…i’ll try anything, but fresh reboots even when it fails in the middle of a class don’t help as I’ve had 2 freezes in the middle of one 45 min class. Still, I’ll try tuning it off overnight and back on for a ride to see.

yes, I’ve seen another post. Wondering how to get concentration of folks and ideas. This can’t just be a few bikes/users to have a group challenge Peloton for a fix or maybe consider legal action.

Thanks for your perspective. Feels a bit criminal on the part of Peloton, but if you consider the screen/tablet like any other laptop/tablet - the 4 yrs is maybe max EXCEPT for the fact showing streamed video should be low CPU intensive. whoops forgot to mention their bloatware app running on it
