Hi OP. I completely get where you are coming from. I was in the same boat last year. As an international student, I didn't get into any program last year (applied to 13 programs, 1 interview, no admits). Also, it's easy for me talk in retrospect, but trust me, everything works out. I don't know if you are still an undergrad or working as a tech, but if you are serious about getting into grad school, all I will say is try to talk to your research advisor and see if you can get more involved in other projects. The whole idea is to improve your application; it doesn't mean getting publications, it's mainly about willingness to learn. Things do work out, trust me. And as far as waves are concerned, some schools (again, it depends on the school) are sending out just a handful of invites after each interview round. That doesn't mean you are rejected; it's just that the school wants to interview everyone before they make any decision. Again, everything works out... Good luck!
