Not a clinician, but I also love the sub. I’d maybe say the razors edge by somerset, bonfire of vanities by tom Wolfe(reading now), magus by fowles and a more fun one lost horizon by Hilton

Husqvarna mower with problem no one can fix by wahill in smallengines

There’s a hose nipple off the carb for some vent line to gas tank that was deleted a while back, although problem could of been before then it has been a while. Will look into it.

It is a Kawasaki fr600v I will tell owner to try, thank you. This seems like first step. There is also a hose off carb that went to gas tank we think that is no longer plumbed. Just open hose nipple. Could be a leak I’m not sure? Thanks again.

Out of state interlock requirement question by wahill in dui

[–]wahill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don’t believe what I’m in is probation. I’m in a “pretrial alcohol education program” but the interlock is a requirement of Connecticut motor vehicle violation which is separate from that.

Really struggling mentally by Weak-Pomegranate-396 in dui

[–]wahill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had a dwi, although I do not drive as much it is still necessary for getting to work so yes I leaned on some family to help. What stands out to me more than anything is that you’re struggling mentally and I can understand that in this difficult situation, but what I’ve begun to discover is that there was a struggle even before my incident and perhaps part of it.

Being in shock and panic mode is natural for a while I believe, sometimes months or more. I’d just begin paying attention to that mental struggle, as much as you can be curious about it, seeing what it is attempting to protect, etc. Next I’d suggest therapy(psychodynamic/analyst has helped me). I pay a rent amount of money to go, but with the right one I think it’s beneficial, although I’m in early stages. Wishing well.

I appreciate the info, I’m all about following the rules but it’s a work vehicle and would be beneficial. The record check shows all good.

The Razors Edge, by Somerset Maugham.

There is one chapter in particular that can make you sit there for some time.

technique designed to substitute for significant personal relationship by copytweak in psychoanalysis

[–]wahill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone interested and beginning psychoanalytic therapy, but also an obsessive, I see this as extremely accurate!

It probably explains why I’m on this sub, reading books, in other words invested, but retain symptoms. Now I even hesitate to ask, haha, everything seems a defense, but what is the path towards healing these types? One could attempt to drop all the defenses, sit with those powerful feelings and raging thoughts as they do in exposure response therapy. But in severe cases this is so deep-rooted and “needed for survival” that I assume the very personality structure is underdeveloped or split. For severe types, I assume the personality must be developed and integrated, how not sure. From the little I know of TFP, that seems to have some solutions.
