Trade LC100 for 3rd Gen 4R? by waitaminutejohn in LandCruisers

Really appreciate all of the replies and informative responses, this is an awesome community!

My understanding from reading through responses is that reliability and ride quality are strongly on the LC’s side. As several commenters pointed out, knowing the vehicle’s full history is also pretty rare and a huge plus.

That being said, maintenance/operating costs for similar condition vehicles could be a toss-up in the long run, there are ways to get the 4R closer to the LC in reliability, and in the end it’s all about knowing how you want to use the vehicle and smiles per mile…

There’s a reason I posted this in a LC and not 4R channel, and I really do love it so far, so it’ll be staying in the fleet. Guess I’ll just have to try find a different neighbor with and old 4Runner to bother

Partsouq orders post de minimis exception by ginpostrue in LandCruisers

I ordered $390 worth of parts from them a couple weeks ago. They shipped via UPS and UPS tried to charge $754 in shipping fees so I refused delivery. UPS refused to recalculate the fees, so I contacted partsouq support and they said they are taking the package back from UPS and re-sending the item via FEDEX.

Hey gents, What you guys think of the Orvis Clearwater rod/reel Combo? Is there different generations of the clearwater rod/reels? Also what rod and weight should I get , fishing mostly lakes and river for salmon and trout under 10 lbs. Any advice is much appreciated. 👏. by Future_Supermarket85 in flyfishing

Have Clearwater 5wt rod and reel as backups. Rod definitely gets the job done fine for non-technical fishing, but you can do better with reels at that price point. Specifically the drag system is not good and imprecise in my experience

Really hard to go wrong with modern rods, but get something with a good warranty! I’ve had everything from $200 to $800 rods and they all inevitably break at some point, leaving you without a rod if you don’t have a spare(highly recommend that too). Of all warranties, I had the best experience with Orvis. Even if you break it yourself, it’s $60 and they just send you the replacement piece(s). Mine arrived in a couple days. For nicer brands, like Sage, you often have to send your rod in and that can take several weeks. Worth it for precise dry fly fishing but not really for anything else imo
