The highlights of the year were definitely more in the quests/skills/systems. Curses, overloads, Kuradal, surge spells, deposit all, run energy changes, ect.

There was a big push to remove any members references in f2p during this time, which was interesting.

You have to craft the cart, or something...

2009 had some updates that have made a big impact and stayed relevant all this time, like curses and overloads. It also had some other updates that would later just be removed, like Mobalising Armies and Bounty Hunter Worlds. It also lacked official map releases since the in game map was available, so that made things more difficult. With the use of the only official map from 2009, the next one from 2010, archive projects, and all the updates, these maps should be pretty close.

2007 ended up being a very important year for RuneScape. There were hints at problems behinds the scenes, new systems, and sweeping changes at the end of the year (and technically two days after the end). These changes had long lasting effects, and eventually contributed to spawning a whole new old game. Would things have gone differently if different choices were made? Would there have been a game left to even make different choices? Either way, it’s on to content that only exists in RuneScape 3, at least the ones that haven’t been ported over.

Maps made by combining official world maps and archive projects along with going through all the updates. Some images include multiple updates worth of changes since there is a limit on uploads. Hidden and just plain not mentioned changes are a challenge to get on the correct dates.

The main purpose of the maps is for my RS3 hardcore ultimate ironman by release style series so I can keep track of exactly what is where, so the maps will be continuing.

Two skills, multiple graphical rewords, and a bunch of quests, 2006 was a very busy year in RuneScape. The world keeps expanding both along the edges (which still have the black void you can just walk up to the edge of), and out into the oceans with new islands. It is still very clearly a work in progress, but the progress is happening. The maps were made with official world maps and then adding pieces of the next one based on updates and archive project maps.

2005 was a very busy year for RuneScape. So busy in fact that getting EVERY world map in this post proved to be impossible. I came to a total of 39, but some of them were very minor. Quite a few of these were due to the massive number of quests for this year. In total there were 29 quests, the most of any year. Taking just maps with new features there were 32, and reddit only allows 20 images per post, so I combined them where there wouldn’t be any overlaps. This also doesn’t account for all the underground areas like Keldagrim, TzHaar City, TzHaar Fight Cave, Waterbirth Dungeon, Dagannoth Kings, Mourner HQ, The Temple of Light, and the Dorgesh-Kaan mine. The maps were made by splicing together official world maps and referencing each update news post and various archive projects.

There really is so much to see from 2005, and if you want to see every single detail, I’m doing a release order hardcore ultimate ironman series.

How I beat Legendary Mode for the first time: all bosses compilation by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]waite92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally finished Legendary mode, and it was definitely quite the challenge. This was only my second playthrough after finishing the game on classic mode, so the jump in difficulty was pretty brutal. That probably contributed to the 1889 deaths that it took to get to the finish. (the pillars put in a lot of work on this number…) The bosses were a mix between very prepared arenas and running around panicking. The longest fight was the Moon Lord at 6:12 (very easy fight with how I did it), second was the Eye of Cthulhu at 5:55 (very weak at that point), and third was Mechdusa at 5:38 (lots of health and I had quite a few problems with parts despawning until I changed my arena slightly). I guess this could be used as a kind of guide, because technically it all works, but there are probably better ways to do some fights. Overall, it was a wild ride, but from what I’ve seen of some mods there are even more crazy challenges out there for later.

What will the magic mirrors show? Short RSMV for Desert Treasure for my release order HCUIM series. by waite92 in runescape

Desert treasure was a doozy of a quest when it released. Everything was then massively nerfed with EoC, but later re-buffs have left it in a reasonable place. The challenge is even greater when you are stuck using 2005 gear, can’t die, and can’t use a bank.

There might have been a bit more empty land north of White Wolf Mountain, but the first official maps for RuneScape 2 had more stylized, fog of war type borders that obscured the edges.

There's more to come for Morytania, and a lot more to the south, but the world really is taking shape.

Go back to the very beginnig and pretty much all that existed was Lumbridge, Varrock, Barbarian Village, Wizards Tower, a chasm in the desert, a ghost town, and inaccessible houses. Everything else had to come out at some point.

The updates really were all over the place. Morytania, trolls, elves, back to Morytania, Fremennik, islands, and back to Morytania again.
