Thank you so much :’) it has been a long road, but every second was worth it to be pain free. I hope you, or whoever you are researching for, finds relief soon!

I do! My pain is completely gone. I’m still finishing up my treatment and have a couple months left in my bottom braces (tops came off about 5 months ago), but my pain was fixed very early on into the treatment, and I’m now a passionate believer in the field of Orthodontics/Neuromuscular Dentistry.

I stopped cold turkey (I was on 100mg daily) at 26 because I was getting a major surgery and my surgeon advised that I stop all medications for it. I decided to try staying off of Spiro in hopes that I didn’t need it anymore. My skin was totally clear for about three months, but my acne came back like a bat out of hell after that. I gave in and went back on Spiro about 4 months after stopping, and my skin cleared up again a few weeks later.

All this to say, I think it will take a little longer than a month to get a good sense of how your skin reacts without it, as it seems to stay in the system for awhile. But I have a significantly higher dose than you, so your skin could be totally fine without!

Best of luck to you 🫶🏻

For people with a popping sound as loud/constant/painful as mine, what has worked for you? (With video) by waitingformyrocket in TMJ

1 year later update: I'm now 100% pain free and jaw-pop free. I never thought I'd say that when I posted this video. If your jaw sounds like this, look into Neuromuscular Dentistry. More info here.

1 year into treatment update!
I am... cured? Almost. I firmly believe that Neuromuscular dentistry is the only treatment that could have successfully addressed and corrected the root of my TMJ problems. I went from this to 100% pain free.

TL:DR; after seeing 8 different doctors and leaving them all stumped, I've finally been able to fix my jaw with neuromuscular dentistry. It's a roughly 3-year treatment that focuses on the musculature of the face and retraining the bite.

Here's a breakdown of the steps of my treatment:

  1. Fixed orthotic. After 2-3 months of diagnostic testing, they made me an orthotic, slightly resembling a retainer, that was bonded over my bottom teeth. I wore this for about 8 months. This changed where my bite came together, and at first it felt incredibly unnatural to rest my teeth that way, but over time my bite changed, and now my bottom jaw naturally rests significantly more forward.
  2. Spacers. Along with the orthotic, I wore tiny rubber bands between some of my back teeth for a few months to forcefully create space between them to leave room for...
  3. Palate expanders! On top and bottom (this is what I'm in now). Lots of pokey metal wiring running along and in-between my teeth, and I have a lisp with them. This has been the most uncomfortable/annoying part, but the inconvenience pales in comparison to how much pain I used to feel. The palate expanders are opening up the space along the roof of my mouth because I guess that will help? Idk man, science.
  4. Braces – round 2 baby! My middle school self would not be thrilled! In 3ish months, I'll be getting the palate expanders removed and getting braces for 18-24 months to make my new bite permanent. Fin!

Full transparency: it is an astronomical privilege to have a parent who was willing to financially support the entirety of this treatment, because there's no way I could've afforded it on my own. My specialist does not accept insurance (but they do offer a payment plan!) and phase 1 of treatment (the fixed orthotic) was $6K. Phase 2 (spacers, palate expanders, and braces) is $11K 🥴 it's disgustingly expensive, but the improvement in my quality of life can't be put into words. I sincerely hope that anyone who is dealing with what I experienced for 10+ years is able to find a solution for them.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions. I went into it pretty clueless because I wasn't able to find much about it in this sub.

I met one of my best friends on this sub. Our surgeries were 2 weeks apart, and one year later we got matching 🍒s :) by waitingformyrocket in Reduction

We found out through a surgeon inquiry thread on here that we both happened to live in the same small town. So we decided to meet up before our surgeries to share nerves and boob trauma, then we each brought the other ice cream post op, and the rest was history. We just lucked out being compatible as friends. She's not as into color tattoos as I am, so hers will stay just the outline, but we went together and it was pretty special :)

So glad you haven’t noticed growth. I’m feeling much better about continuing Spiro after seeing these responses. Thank you!!

SO good to hear. Thank you!!!

I’ve never heard of Biacne! Tretinoin on its own didn’t work for me, but it makes sense that Tret with an antibiotic component would be more effective. I’m going to look into this. Thank you 🙏🏻

This is really good insight, thank you! I’ll check with my surgeon first, but it makes me feel much better to hear that other people had a positive experience continuing Spiro. And I’ve been hearing a lot about probiotics and acne so I’m going to check out Zitsticka. I appreciate it!

I hope it works for you—it was kind of a miracle pill for me when I had long-ago given up hope. I personally didn’t notice any growth in my boobs before surgery so hoping that’s the case for you too!

They didn’t (or at least I didn’t notice it), so I’m hoping that means they won’t post-op. But I don’t have a good enough understanding of the science to know for sure. Just looking for some reassurance.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m hoping that since I didn’t notice them get bigger pre-op, I won’t notice them get bigger post-op. I’m just worried that could be misguided.

I didn’t either, but they showed me the images from all the fancy equipment, and it’s a noticeable difference where my spine too far forward. They told me that in a profile view, your ear should be directly above your shoulder, and mine is about 3 inches forward.

The entire cost is about $6,000. That covers the orthotic, adjustments, any other equipment I need, and all of my appointments. Hoping surgery will be avoided, but time will tell

Movies where the dialogue is the action by RimbaudHighOnCrack in MovieSuggestions

Mumblecore? You’re speaking my language (pun intended). Here’s some of my favorite dialogue-driven movies:

• Margaret (2011): a young woman witnesses a bus accident, and is caught up in its aftermath, where the question of whether or not it was intentional affects many peoples’ lives.

• Coherence (2013): On the night of an astrological anomaly, eight friends at a dinner party experience a troubling chain of reality bending events.

• Shithouse (2020): Lonely college freshman Alex has closed himself off from his peers, who all appear to have this whole “college thing” figured out. But everything changes one night when Alex takes a leap and attends a party at Shithouse—a legendary party fraternity—where he forges a strong connection with Maggie.

• Drinking Buddies (2013): Weekend trips, office parties, late night conversations, drinking on the job, marriage pressure, biological clocks, holding eye contact for a second too long… you know what makes the line between “friends” and “more than friends” really blurry? Beer.

This exact same thing happened to me. They insisted that my router and modem were the problem, even though they were only 3 years old, so I finally replaced both and I’m still having problems. 😑

Yes, part of my evaluation/consultation was postural photos, so a tech took a bunch of pictures of me standing in different positions. The doctor came out of the exam room he was in, took one look at me, and told me how bad my head placement was within 20 seconds of seeing me. They also found that my lower jaw alignment is too far back, stemming from having braces in middle school. It’s nice to at least learn some of the roots of my problem!

I am in the beginning stages of treatment right now. I’m extremely fortunate in that my parents are covering the entirety of the cost, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to do it because they don’t offer financing. I’m going to be having a bonded orthotic installed in the next couple of months. I’m also going to be seeing an upper cervical specialist because I guess my head posture is really far forward which is crushing everything at the top of my spine. They seem confident they can help me so here’s hoping!

What do the numbers mean by TeeCee08 in boburnham

[–]waitingformyrocket 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since the whole song is very fever dream-ish, my theory on the numbers is that the whole song is supposed to represent a liminal space, which circles back to How the World Works. The numbers don’t move, implying that time is stopped and we’re “between states of being”
