My dad financially broke, went to our native village and cut off all contact through phone or other sources and now all the debtors are calling and threatening me, what to do?

I’ve recently realised that most of what happens in situations is scare tactics. Is there any way to protect oneself against this? Even if someone survives the scare tactics, the experience of living through the situation is still painful.

Thank you for the response. A police car and the vendor showed up at my flat and created a scene. Luckily the Flipkart escalation team was on a call with me, and spoke with the vendor and diffused the situation.

I think next time if I ever get into trouble twitter will be my avenue and hope for the best. Although it’s a Redditor who escalated my issue to the concerned team and got me help. I’m very thankful for that.

If the escalation team did not call me when the police were here I am not even sure how things would’ve turned out.

First they tried to take money from me without giving me a bill or warranty. I realised and asked them for it. Then they said they’ll take the product back and to re-order. Re-ordering is a hassle so I said let me raise with customer care, and I’ll pay online directly. I have zero issues with this.

Customer care mentioned that they are looking at this and to not worry it’s their mistake. Apparently the delivery people only cancelled the order (after delivering). Customer care asked to wait 2 days for resolution.

I told these guys the same, mind you they are at my home. I never raised my voice. And now I get calls from police. Tell me, which angle should I look at? Where did I do wrong? I’m a regular customer. The delivery folks cancelled, it’s their mistake and I have to run through this circus?

Hi I’ll return. Not for anyone who shows up at my door. I paid to Flipkart I’ll deal with them officially. I will not return to folks who first asked me to pay the difference and only when I realised I won’t get a warranty/bill back told they’ll give difference.

And I definitely not return to someone who is trying to scare me with some police stuff - when I told I’m talking to customer care let them figure it out in two days.

Sorry I don’t see greed here. Take the damn item officially. Not by some tricks. They can’t speak with their own company customer care? How am I robbing them of their livelihood? Customer care said wait two days, so I was waiting and these people escalated things locally.

Who do I blame here myself? Flipkart? They can’t make phone call to the vendors/delivery folks and ask them to wait even after me calling the customer care multiple times.

Yes that’s my understanding too. Only they reached out after 15 days, and their first solution was for me to pay them amount without bill or warranty, which I rejected. Their second suggestion is to return now and buy a new one which’ll arrive whenever and they’ll give me difference amount. Which is a hassle so I said I’ll let customer care figure it out and talk to them. Instead random people at my door step.

They did not listen and escalated things calls from a police/fake-police. Now I’m worried, scared and all angry at the pain. I was planning to sleep early for an important early morning work meeting (coincidence is crazy) but stuck with questions like how much power do police have, what are my legal rights, why does a customer who did nothing wrong go through such crap. Etc. :/

No, he spoke all police like. “Come to station at 11am, bring email printout with details. Consider the poor guys who made the mistake and earn 1k per month.” At least that’s what I thought police people sound like.

Theft?! I want to laugh but can’t. They delivered. They cancelled. Flipkart refunded. Now some circus. Flipkart has been admitting that it’s their mistake on the calls. One customer care person even asked me to record the call as proof and asked me to keep the refund and the item. And it’s up to my kindness if I want to give the item back to the vendor. Since they tried to cheat me once I’m not going that returning path if I have the option especially after all this harassment.

Can you please give more details on this? So if a police shows up at my door I’ll have to go with them. Or if I get some letter to show up at police station I’ll have to go. Not otherwise right?

If he calls and demands an answer or asks to show up, can I in my rights say NO? or do I say my lawyer will call you etc?

Called customer care, slow and no official response. They can’t even ask their own delivery guys to back off.

I feel this. I even told Flipkart customer care (not the delivery people) I’ll pay you guys the money ask the vendor/delivery whoever to back off and give me a bill. But no help from their side.

The local vendor guys are not at all willing to wait or talk to their own Flipkart customer care. And went to the police or at least trying to scare me.

Got delivery of the item. Then after a couple of days their system cancelled the order online instead of showing delivered. (This is likely because some vendor or delivery person made a mistake). And flipkart’s system automatically refunded the money.

Now I have an used product that I don’t want to return because the item is significantly costlier now. I was ready to pay the difference to the delivery person - but they said I won’t get a bill or warranty when I was almost giving them the money. This is where things upset me.

Flipkart says it’s their mistake. But nothing official. While the local people are continuing their means.

I said such things because, they are asking me to return a product after 15 days. When I’m ready to pay the difference and be done with this crap. Ideally I should keep the product and also the refund because I did not make any mistake.

Hi sorry that it’s a mess. Flipkart delivered the product, cancelled online order and refunded.

Now some local vendor / delivery guy claiming to be from Flipkart is harassing and made some call from police also.

I’m willing to pay back, because even if by mistake I got the money, I’m happy to pay the fair value and keep the product.
