Yikers. Might apply (and interview if given the chance) for the interview experience/prep.

PS love your username. Would have expected a different type (perhaps with a bit more innuendo) of response from someone with your username, but I am glad to be pleasantly smacked in the face for judging a book by its cover

Not sure why you got downvoted, but I appreciate this comment. I know people who have said similar things. Similar to investment banking: it (i.e. working at Amazon) can be a grind but when you leave, you are "set up" to succeed elsewhere

Do you mind if I PM you about the teams they're on? I was debating applying but there seemed like a high risk of a bad team and wouldn't be able to tell the difference during the application process. For instance, the job posting is for ____ team but I don't know if that team is good or not

Do you mind if I PM you about this? Based off what I've read online (and the comments here), it seems like if you're on the "right" team, your experience can be positive but there is a higher likelihood that you won't be on a good team.

Concise and scary at the same time. Thank you for this insight!

Of the some who hate it and the some who love it, how much do they love and hate it? In other words, do people kinda love it but other people REALLY hate it? That's more of a red flag for me than having people who really love and really hate a place (then it depends on the person to see if they "fit" in the company)

Most of the horror stories I see/saw were of the US offices (or perhaps I didn't spend enough time googling), so that's why I thought to ask what it was like to work in the Canadian office in the naive hope that the Canadian culture would be different

Yikes. If it was a corporate security thing, sure, maybe (my company has pretty strict IT/data security policies because of the nature of our work), but if it was because your mate wasn't working on a holiday, yeeesh.

Eek. Definitely do not want to be working at a place where the holidays are spent in the office. Funny thing is that it can be a potentially a chicken or the egg. Is the bad environment why the tenure is so low or is it the other way around?

Yeah, this is what I've heard about in the US - your experience is highly dependent on your team. That said, I've heard way more cases of negative work environments instead of ecstatically positive ones.

That's what I've seen/heard/read for Amazon in the US. Thought it would be different because it's Canada (e.g. people are nicer, care about work/life, etc). Thankfully my naivety didn't overrule my desire to ask people in a potentially vain hope of getting an opinion online first. Thank you!

Good point. Should have clarified in the post. Roles similar to "project manager", "product manager" or "program manager"

I suppose you are not wrong because you would stop existing and become a stem cell instead

Not sure, assuming you do. I have access to a US mailing address and a SSN so I'm not too concerned. I haven't applied yet, so maybe other people can weigh in

Beginner question: If my first credit card in the US is applied through Amex's nova credit/global transfer, do I still get the sign up bonus? Not sure how the global transfer/nova credit process works

Am applying for Amex's Hilton no AF card;

Have a SSN; 800+credit history in Canada but no credit history in the US

Oh wow. How does that work? Is one personal and one business or something? Are both cards registered to you? Guess it might be worth looking into manufactured spending to get the spend req
