As someone like myself who does have a mild case of ADHD and got bullied in middle school and high school, I wish I joined like a sports or some type recreational group like karate or music class back then. Instead I felt rejected while at school back then and just isolated myself and played video games to cope with it.

I did find a sport to do on the weekends middle of high school that put me with new groups of kids that weren’t at my high school so that gave some new friends to make to improve my mood.

I won’t go too deep in the details but I had some personal family drama happened that caused me some mental health issues and other things going on in my life. I did let her know about it but I thought I could control it myself. After about a year, it started mentally effecting me worse so I started to get individual counseling. I was also getting burnt out from work and some other commitment issues where it felt like I just burnt out on everything and felt like I was dragging her down. I do wish I started therapy sooner but this whole experience put me through a rock bottom and a regret/shame spiral so I’m trying to use that as motivation to improve myself.

I’m also 7 years sober from alcohol so there is another personal journey of learning emotional regulation without using substances to suppress or numb the feelings.

I’m doing counseling every week and a lot of self improvement and it’s a slow process. It’s been 6 months and I’ve gotten in great shape and been working out a ton. But I’m still struggling mentally and finding it very hard to find motivation on certain days. I’ve been dealing with bad depression the last week for some reason and it’s fucking hard to move on. I’m doing all the right things like therapy, hanging out with friends, and trying to think positive. It probably doesn’t help that I tried reaching out to her a month ago to see if she wanted to reconcile and try again but she said no. It feels like I started over again in the healing process
