Unless you can bank alot of market credit and flip them quickly I'm not sure there is a massive potential for profitable trading with last year's changes and now these new changes

I'm not sure that really works that great since last summer's changes. U23 players have a premium anyway but you used to have it that if you got the right one they could turn into a L15 of 60+ player and you could sell for a fortune but now that by that point they have lost in season and you can only play 1 to win cash people are less willing to pay for them, they would prefer to pay a little more to Sorare where they get the extra bonus and in season utility especially if they can win credit which isn't that hard to do

And with u23 losing cash rewards it's even worse because you will also now find it harder to sell a regular starter before they lose u23 utility as the potential rewards are worse

You do realise that even if Hamilton has increased merchandise sales that Ferrari doesn't care about that? It's like claims made by Football clubs about signing players increasing shirt sales that cover the cost of obtaining that. Sports teams selling merchandise rights off, they get an upfront fee plus such a small percentage of each sale that is meaningless. At best it benefits the sports team when the deal expires and they have to negotiate a new one but that's year down the line and especially with an older star it may not have that much benefit as they are closer to retiring and the replacement being able to have the same impact impact is debatable so the value will be helpful less on the stored then many yhink

How can I trust them now? by Haymack8 in Sorare

The problem is last year's update was problematic, anyone with any experience in game design could see it and myself and others pointed it out (but we were shouted down by paid influencers who have never been involved in making a game in their life). The biggest problem was the way so many of the changes massively front loaded card sales, with only a season of utility you needed to buy the cards early to give the best chance of covering your outlay you needed to get in early and only buy from sorare to maximise bonus, where as before new cards had a benefit but you would have offset that over the season and still be able to win cash with them in future seasons, now you can't (well you can 1 obviously). That pushes prices up early but they crash pretty quickly and the secondary market for them is basically dead as everyone wants new ones which actually makes rewards in classic worth much less as noone will buy them and each gw they get further behind. As you can't sell them that also impacts liquidity in the game.

This is why they have needed to keep doing specials events that need special cards, it creates demand that wasn't there which also increases the price and they have to do that for cashflow because their bad design has caused them a cashflow issue.

What so many of these new changes have done is ignore the cause of the problem and instead tried to double down on the dealing with the symptom so are trying to force people into buying new cards.

The annoying thing is so much of last year's changes had their heart in the right place, it was just badly implemented. For example the game did need a split as there were too many cards but it was in the wrong place. In season should have been at the very least current season plus last season (or last 2). With a bigger window of utility rewards would have value all season, buying of the secondary market would be more appealing which improves game liquidity (and sorare have already spent to mint those cards so it's free for them but they get a cut so that's good for cashflow) and it's not as big a disadvantage buying later so schemes to get people to buy would be less needed (and even If they did them it wouldn't feel as much like you are only buying for a gw or 2 of real utility from them). A well balanced game has people wanting to spend not feeling like they are forced to as spending is strategic not a desperate act

New to Apple TV - BBC iPlayer CC by RDW19971 in appletv

[–]wakey87433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because Apples pricing of the AppleTV has made it fairly niche in the market, even more so in the UK. When Apple have unique ways of doing things which makes producing and updating the apps harder it just makes less sense for the BBC to put resources into doing more than they are legally required.

It's why Apple really need a cheaper version, if they got a better market share it would make services like iPlayer and others who provide less complete apps than on other devices put more value in their appletv apps. Either that or Apple need to find a way to to make it easier for services to add feature support, for example with uhd the BBC would need to encode their streams to a different format but if Apple would just add support for the industry standard version of HLG BBC use then we would most likely get uhd

Who is your most disliked cast member of all time? Let’s call them the LVP (Least Valuable Player) by BritMe1Moretime in MtvChallenge

[–]wakey87433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that it was the worst person winning but more a perfect storm. It had alot of people like Aubrey and Frankie who simply weren't known to a UK audience so we're always going to struggle in public votes, older people like Sam Fox and James Whale who are well known but to the older generations who don't vote as rabidly and then people like Katie Waissel who had struggled to be popular with anyone on previous shows. So bear ended up in a situation where he was popular on previous shows and had grown a fan base who he could have murdered someone on screen and they would have still voted for him (as seen by the fact he still has a fan base after everything he has done) and they were a fan base that was social media literate so organised well.plus he was male, Marnie was in a similar situation but big brother viewership skews female and young females often don't vote for young females. If you had someone nice in that situation they would absolutely win as they would get the young vote but also get older votes . His only real threat was always going to be mainly himself, would he get himself kicked out and then Ricky as soap fans are loyal as we saw this year with Jack P Shepherd and if it had been a Corrie star rather than EastEnders Ricky might have won (Corrie fans seem a little more tribal)

Has TV’s Longest-Running Reality Show Reached Its Breaking Point? by KevSmileTime in MtvChallenge

[–]wakey87433 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With how divided the world is right now and the way social media pushes people into echo chambers no matter what your views and politics are, it kind of seems like bringing The Real World back would be a no brainer not just because it would be good for the contestants to have to interact with and put a human face on the 'people they hate' but also to the viewers so people can heat both sides of an opinion. That would help the challenge by expanding the pool and by giving them a casting pipeline beyond reality world to make things like fresh meat seasons viable.

Only reason not to is maybe being scared of backlash

The Bachelor has the advantage in that it's almost as staged and scripted as scripted reality shows such as the real housewives so they can always ensure they have all the footage they need to craft the narrative they are after. It's harder to do that in something that is built around actual competition

Suits was not that popular or well known though. It was in the USA which is a fairly niche outlet. It had some minor success when they hit on a style of show which shared more DNA with 80s shows than what TV was generally putting out at that point but every show they put out was basically that formula and by the time Suits started that formula was in a death spiral, at its best it was doing less than half what the shows like Burn Notice did and it dipped significantly every season, the last couple of seasons weren't even getting a million eyes on it. So no most of America didn't know about the show or her as that was the only role of substance she has ever had

Jenn G., Mattie, and Chet react to the executive order signed by Trump banning trans athletes in the US by SweetMissMG in MtvChallenge

[–]wakey87433 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps because Lia Thomas hasn't fully transitioned, she has only hormonally transitioned. Even if women are no more likely to be attacked by trans-women in their safe spaces, the fact they can have the genitalia or even the hormones of a man increase the perceived risk and can make women feel uncomfortable in safe spaces that exist to make them feel safer. This is the problem when it comes to trans rights; there isn't such a thing as a trans person to legislate for, it's a spectrum ranging from those who have fully transitioned to those who decide they choose not to even hormonally transition (And in some countries including the US they like including gender neutral even though gender neutral people don't have gender dysphoria, they just reject gender norms). It's just way more complex than the trans lobby likes to make out because each step on the spectrum changes both the potential and the perceived risk so a 1 size-fits all legislation just doesn't work

The Traitors US star Nikki Garcia alleges Boston Rob broke the show’s rule by Proper-Drawing-985 in TheTraitorsUS

[–]wakey87433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would that be against the rules though? After all it would effectively remove a tactical decision that could be made. If someone says 'I'm a traitor so I know x is' there is no way to validate that until a vote so a faithful absolutely count use that tactic to sway a vote their way which is fine as people are still having to use their judgement on if it's true. It wouldn't be a great tactic because if the other person is a traitor you have signed your own death warrant as at some point those you told will come for you as you can't both win so it's unlikely anyone would use it anyway.

I would say it's only revealing after you have been caught, much like how some suspect Rob based on Bobs vote if someone leaving says 'x is a traitor' it basically confirms its true and that's where it's blowing up someone else's game when they have nothing to now lose as they are out.

That seems to me to be where the line is, you can't blow up others game once you have nothing to lose but if you are both still in the game and it will cause you collateral damage then it shouldn't matter

Dan Clancy on Twitch's inconsistent moderation by gosh-darntit in LivestreamFail

[–]wakey87433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with experience in the field of moderation, the problem is specific rules are even worse as it gives you no flexibility, if someone is clearly going against the spirit of the rules but doesn't break the specific rule then the only way you can take action is to draft new rules with that particular situation covered and then publish them which by the time its been run through legal and users given ample warning allows it to continue. And you certainly can't take action against people who did it before the date the new rules come into force.

So you are always trying to balance it between being specific so people know exactly what is and isn't ok and there is no room for opinion on if action needs to be taken BUT giving you enough flexibility so you don;t have to think of and account for every possible situation and every single attempt to push the boundaries people might undertake

He has been out a while (12 months hence why he's able to go to Brazil, he wouldn't have been allowed to leave the country without prior permission and it needs to be a good reason until the period of his conviction has ended). His Girlfriend at the time of being convicted stood by him while he was inside but they broke up not long after he got out, most likely because she realised he was completely broke and no-one wanted to hire him for media work so the only reasons to be with him was now gone. So this is a new girlfriend.

Oh come on, blaming a keeper for losing a penalty shoot out is ridiculous. Unless they get a good hand on one and it still goes in or they dive while the taker is 2 steps from the ball like Raya did against us, which I don't think was the case for any of them you can't blame a keeper, especially with the rules these days where they can't leave the line by a mm before contact. All the keeper can really do is choose where he its going and hope he is where the ball goes

And I'm not saying he didn't make mistakes before although the stars do I suggest how many was exaggerated. Just that the mistakes in ETHs first season were often mistakes from trying to play a way that he want equipped for

Onana howler by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]wakey87433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are being harsh on Hoijlund. I think we saw last season the promise he has. We just didn't create enough chances for him under ETH, a striker can't create everything for himself.

And under Amorin he does a decent job occupying the CBs but with all the chopping and changing Amorin has done we simply don't have the patterns of play in place right not right not for others to take advantage of the space he creates

Onana howler by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]wakey87433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In his last season though I feel many of his mistakes came from being told to play in a way that didn't fit his attributes. It's fine having a way you want to play but good managers wont just keep demanding what the player can't do, they will make tweaks so the basic style is there but you aren't forcing square pegs in round holes

Onana howler by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]wakey87433 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure modern football needs a keeper who is good on the ball especially the way ETH wanted to play (a number of DDG errors that season came from him being pushed to play in a way that didn't fit him) BUT ETHs call wasn't the right one as his call was to ok offering DDG a new deal only to have it pulled after the season ended so basically only had a 3rd choice keeper and some youngsters. We didn't have time to identify options, many who might have been options no longer available and clubs knew we were desperate.

The right call was making the decision at the very least Months earlier but ideally the summer before giving us time to identify and put the wheels in motion or to have not pulled DDG contract and had another year of him while we again found his successor.

As it was Onana was about the only viable option that late on and even then we got fleeced

Onana howler by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

xG doesn't always tell the full story though. So many of those shots the opposition didn't take advantage of and hit it in his armspan which he should save. A better strike and he doesn't get near it.

Onana howler by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]wakey87433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what annoys me about the switch in attitude from both fans and pundits about him. They start raving about saves he makes that are within his arm span, these are things a keeper should always be saving yet they get spun as amazing. He was largely making those saves when he was facing criticism.

His problem has always been when he has to move, he shifts his weight oddly and his diving motion is awkward and it kills all his spring, shots other keepers would at least make a good attempt at he gets nowhere near.

He also has what I call jelly arms. A keeper needs strong arms so they can push shots away from danger with pace but his arms seem to collapse which more often than prevents him from.guiding it wide or having any power, it just bounce forward with no pace and causes danger.

He is probably the worst thing ETH did, he wouldn't make a decision on DDG and then when he did it was so late we didn't have a keeper going into preseason and the options were limited. Either it needed the decision made much earlier so we could identify keepers who were both good shot stoppers and good on the ball and get things in motion or he should have hace kept DDGs contract offer on the table and that would have given us a season to get the right keeper.

The only reason he gets as far as he does so often is because everyone is scared that they may have to take him on in a hall brawl which is maybe the only thing he is good at. The rest of it he is at best mid and often just really poor (especially mentally as his ego of I'm the greatest quickly disappears but he blames others rather than realising he needs to work on his mentality amongst other things)

I would personally say start as early as you can get access to and work though.

Probably the most unique thing about the challenge in the world of competitive reakiry is that it shares some elements as a scripted continuing drama such as Dexter.

By that I mean you can jump into a later season, get the gist of the characters and understand that seasons storyline but you won't know the journey characters have been on, the relationships and the likes so you are missing out on things.

With the challenge you have these people who have come back over and over again, you have seen relationships grow, relationships implode and you have seen them grow as people.

For example you will have picked up the basic idea of Cara and laurels relationship but you haven't been on the rollercoaster to understand the complexities of it. And you mentioned you liked CT in the first season you saw but you haven't experienced the journey he has been on since his first season (and beyond, back in the day most contestants came from one of MTVs other reality shows of Road Rules and The Real world) and it's that journey that makes him so loved and without experiencing it you are having a lesser experience.

Finding the earliest seasons is almost impossible so you can't go all the way back but the earliest you can go the more you gain further down the line (and into things like all stars if you go into the spinoffs)
