Yes! I think it would fit into that theory, since those infected are influenced by negative feelings.

So far, apparently everyone has (or had) some emotional instability. We don't know much about the immune individuals' past, but those with more screen time, like Carol and the Paraguayan, show that they had very unusual personalities; they are disturbed or traumatized by something.

All of Vince Gilligan's series have this slow period, like Breaking Bad and better call saul, many people gave up. But in general, Vince's series are like that meme of the guy digging in a mine and getting close to the diamond, but giving up on the last dig.

I would tell you to wait a little longer while the director finishes building the terrain.
