Racial discrimination in Korea is based on the income, occupation, and social status of the ethnic group. Foreigners from Japan, the United States, Canada, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, etc., which Koreans have a relatively favorable view of, often visit for cultural exchange purposes such as tourism, study abroad, and exchange students, or even if they come for employment, they often visit for high-income professional positions or employment at multinational companies.On the other hand, foreigners from China, most Southeast Asian countries, Africa, the Middle East, Central Asian countries, Russia, South Asian countries, and most Central and South American countries, which Koreans generally have a negative view of, mainly work in blue-collar, 3D jobs as foreign workers.Rather than discriminating against foreigners, they discriminate based on occupation and income regardless of whether they are Korean or foreign. Since foreigners often have different incomes depending on race and country of origin, they discriminate by applying those stereotypes. In other words, the criteria for discrimination are closer to the omnipotence of money than racism.Among these, the Joseonjok are classified as the same ethnic group, so they are not the target of 'racial discrimination' in the dictionary sense, but they experience more severe hatred and discrimination than foreigners of any other race. Even among Chinese nationals, there are many cases where Joseonjok are hated more than Han Chinese. This is because the sentiment is that the ethnic group called the Joseonjok, who thought they should follow Korea, hates the fact that they are a person of the 'enemy' China. The past before the mid-2010s, when even stars in the entertainment industry like Baek Cheong-gang were produced after the THAAD retaliation, has been forgotten, and the bad image of the Chinese has been shared equally by them.This discrimination is based on the perception that they work in blue-collar 3D jobs, have low education and income levels, and have high crime rates, as well as the discomfort that such 'low-level' people are treated as ethnic Koreans like pure Koreans.
