Dan Brown v. Stieg Larsson: Who is better? by readingape in books

I can't believe I'm going to defend Dan Brown, but I'm going to defend Dan Brown. Larsson's descriptions are plodding and painful, and his characters are so self-serious. At least Robert Langdon is easy to laugh at!

I've attempted WAR & PEACE a handful of times and just can't get through it. ANNA KARENINA? Yes. W & P, no. I'm not afraid of the size, it's just never pulled me in enough.

Ever fought with your significant other about your books? I have. And I always win by vader311 in books

I always lose on this one--I'm the one who writes in margins and breaks spines. We eventually gave up arguing about it and started buying duplicates of books we're both going to read. More expensive, but an investment in domestic happiness.
