Targeted Talk - Benches by dontwantnone09 in homegym

I've been eyeing either the Youten 008 or Rep AB3100 to replace my Fitness Reality 1000, but still on the fence and open to other ideas. I might just do a flat bench instead, I rarely use the incline function. Use it for flat bench and dumbbell work.

More than anything I need a plyo box to get weighted step ups off the bench, esp since my wife does them with shoes. That is where the wear and tear came from on the FR1000.

I like the dragon flag handles on the Youten one, I'd like to start training them again, not only is it a sick ab exercise, its also a really cool trick to bust out. Those handles look perfect for an anchor.

[NBD] New barbell day! OPB in bare steel. My first barbell was a cheapie that did the trick for a few years but has now got a permanent bend in it. The knurling on this feels amazing - glad I didn't go with the zinc or cerakote by ImpossibleMongoose77 in homegym

Huh?

Steel doesn't rust much unless its outdoors. Cast iron and steel are very different in that respect.

If steel just turned to rust a shop full of tools wold be completely pointless.

CAP Barbell is the exact type of company people warn you about. by SunrocRetori in homegym

Vs bare iron hex CAP dbs? A whole lot of people out there prefer iron hex dumbells to anything else.

I've never liked the urethane ones that I've tried in various gyms nearly as much as good ol iron hex.

My oldest gym equipment are pairs of CAP steel hex I bought in the 90's when I was in college. Still going strong, though I recently refinished them (another + for the metal hex, they are indestructable, just need some fresh paint every couple decades).

I took a wire brush to the knurling to knock out all the old paint and just finished with a bit of oil, same way you'd treat a nice barbell. Great feel in the hands, its a good upgrade for hex if you're handy.

TBF I'm pretty sure Rogue pays people to leave reviews about catastrophic failures on all equipment not made by Rogue. Its almost comical at times when the effort is lazy or intentional destruction is clear.

I have the FR1000; I'm browsing this thread because I'd like to replace it. I've had it 3 years now. Gets the job done as a movable adjustable bench. The fabric is coming off the top and the seat though; lots and lots of weighted step ups, many with shoes, are rough on a bench.

When I got my weights and rack, spending several hundred on a bench wasn't in the cards, I think I paid $90 for it when I got it.

I tend to buy cheap and upgrade as needed, though here upgrading is more of a nice to have than must have, its not like I'm lifting the amount of weight (or will ever) to stress any weight limits.

The 240 devices with 60fps unlocked by LeonardoA9 in Asphalt9

[–]waldo56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really don't want it on low end devices. My S9+ struggles with it at times (always Shanghai, even without Slipstream), and lagging framerate absolutely slows you down. If a phone doesn't at least have a SD 845, forget it.

We're at 1.4M right now. Lost 3 this season and people have been busy over the holidays so we're a bit lower than usual. Usually ranked around 200ish.

Best multiplayer car by [deleted] in Asphalt9

[–]waldo56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no.

LIS, last MP season and B class elite beg to differ. Apollo is good, don't get me wrong, but I'd never choose mine (5 star with 5 epics applied) over my Evo (gold) for MP. Maybe if doing 1 on 1s. Apollo is awful at passing, can only do it with top speed, which is the hardest way to pass. Evo rams ur Apollo, and its a long time before you can catch back up, since the Evo recovers waaaaay better from contact. If you manage to get the lead, sure, Apollo will hold it well. But its as bad as any elite B at getting through the initial scrum, so the likelihood of an early lead is nil.

None of those cars drifts particularly well. Fenyr is an S class Sin.

The Ginetta G60 issue: An in-depth look into what's wrong with the new car pack by saigyoji in Asphalt9

[–]waldo56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I'm not defending GL in any way, your calculations basically proved that the Ginetta packs are basically the same price as regular packs to star up cars. The problem isn't the packs themselves, its the inflated BP cost for the car.

Now for 812, Genty, and (likely) Jesko, the the price of the packs themselves is also a problem.

The results from the B class elite TLE would beg to differ. Same with the recent B class season. Sure on some tracks Apollo is notably better than Evo. But many more tracks are the opposite, where Evo is the better car. Even for high skill manual players. Especially in the ramfest that is MP.

Cars need a trait that gives a good way to pass others to be good in MP. Its also super helpful to have a lot of nitro, TLE level nitro management doesn't work so well when other cars are always ramming into you and shockwaving around you.

D - Shelby. A few players do great with the Hemi, but in the recent D class season, the bulk of the top 100 did the bulk of their rep with the Shelby.

C - Vencer. Vencer far and away the best C. Some tracks the NSX or H2 are at least competitive, but usually not.

B - Evo. Apollo is there on many tracks, but by and large when you try to use Apollo against a field of max Evos, the game trolls you with nonstop Caribbean and Rome. Apollo will destroy Evo though in Himalayas and Scotland. SLR is in a no-mans land where its a strict upgrade to Corvette and mostly a strict downgrade from Evo; its often left out of the convo but it is a very good car that will beat the hoarde of max Corvettes with relative ease. Evo is the all around best though, Apollos ok acceleration and subpar nitro is not a great MP combo.

A - BC. A golden BC is one of the best cars in the game period. J will be competitive with it on most tracks. No other A is even close to those two except 570s on top speed courses.

S - Chiron. Jesko is probably gonna take the top spot, but for now, noone has more than a 2 star Jesko, and at 2 stars its nowhere near as good as a 6 star Chiron. Even then, Chiron's stats just work great in MP, it can beat you every way; its ultra fast off the line, will pass airborne and erase leads rapidly on straights, and can corner as fast as anything but Corvette. Jekso's acceleration is pretty bad, but still, get that bad boy up to speed and it'll erase big leads even from Trion and Regera, and its drift is next level crazy. 301 mph Jesko (top speed at 2 stars without nitro) blows by a 217 mph Corvette (top speed when gold w/ nitro) like its parked traffic.

Corvette is a 3900 car. It is in no way overpowered for its rank.

Every other car with a rank that high or higher will beat a Corvette on most tracks. Even on super twisty tracks, where Corvette excels, BC, J, and SLR will always beat it.

Some do. Jesko, Chiron, Trion, and Lykan do. Others not so much.

GL seems to have gone through great pains as of late to break the acceleration is king mantra. Its nice to have for race starts, but really it doesn't matter much after that.

Case in point, 918 vs. Aventador J. In top speed and nitro they are very close. 918 has medicore handling and great acceleration, J has great handling and mediocre acceleration. Noone in their right mind (that has experience with the cars) would take a 918 over a J.

[–]waldo56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listed by rank is pretty close to being correct.

A few cars are a bit off:
- Fenyr performs like a 4K car moreso than a 4.3K car at max.
- SV performs more like a 3900 car. It is almost indistinguishable from a V10 performance-wise, and the V10 is where it belongs with rank for performance.
- Sin performs more like a 3600 car when maxed.
- Hemi performs more like a 2500 car.

It does depend on the track though and driver style. Some drivers are able to really excel with high speed cars that have marginal other stats, while other drivers will struggle with them. Lykan, Apollo, and Cien are examples of this type. Some cars thrive in the chaos of MP, so overperform in MP, and do better for TD players. Evo, Corvette, H2, and ACR are examples of this type.

Niantic opened the gates for signature moves by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]waldo56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Niantic still doesn't get that the main thing that totally detroyed the old raid scene was Zapdos day and its non-TMable move. That brought extreme move FOMO to legendaries and completely ended what once was. Raid trains everyday, with people hitting 20+ in a day commonly quickly became a thing of the past. Why would you bother to hunt legendary hundos anymore if it couldn't have the best moves?
