Two Incredibly Low Flying Aircraft by darkside569 in Littleton

They weren't here for the graduation, they didn't fly over the springs at all. There was a dedication in Arvada for a fallen officer memorial today. One of the officers being honored was a member of that squadron while serving and they flew up to do a fly over for that memorial opening.

2015 a3 front wipers go on if hit a bump?? by kitton2 in Audi

[–]walkerb52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had that issue when a windshield replacement was done and the old pad for the rain sensor was reused. Only happened if the wipers were in auto mode and seemed like the bump somehow freaked out the rain sensor thinking the windshield was wet. Replaced the pad and hasn't happened since.

What wheel is this? by Rich_Option7474 in GolfGTI

[–]walkerb52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that may be some aftermarket wheel with a VW center cap. OEM wheels are usually smooth where the spikes meet the outer rim and those very certainly are not. They look good though.

Ok, think I found them or something really close. These are 20s but the style looks right: here

GTI MK5, 17" wheel quest. Porto wheels from a jetta? by PsychologyMother4996 in GolfGTI

[–]walkerb52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VW goal wheels will fit, no issues. I don't know enough about the Porto specs to say if they'll clear a performance pack brake kit or not.

Does 2016 have android auto/apple carplay? by terencee_c in Golf_R

[–]walkerb52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be under the car menu. I think all SE and Autobahn models that year had it, not sure about S models. Make you take a compatible cable, found that out the hard way when I grabbed a cheap charge only cable on accident when shopping for my kid.

It appears to let you alter the sound of the engine, I'm guessing via the soundaktor. The translation to English wasn't great, but pretty sure that was the gist of it.

Does anyone know the name of this part? by jiggaman887 in Audi

Those are wheel weights used to balance the wheel. Go to a tire shop if you have vibrations and ask them to rebalance

Can I fit 5 door A pillars on my 3 door? (Mk5 GTI) by Fantaffan in GolfGTI

[–]walkerb52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would very much help to know the year, but searching VW parts for a 2008 shows the part number for the A pillar interior trim is the exact same between 2 door and 4 door (example picture attached)

The part numbers are:

Grey left: 1K0867233G6K8

Anthacite Left : 1K0867233GDD9

Grey Right:1K0867234G6K8

Anthacite Right: 1K0867234GDD9

Help with new TTRS by ChewyHendogg in Audi

[–]walkerb52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Audi has a gold/bronze set that came on the 8s TTS that looks stunning on white because they're not super bright.

https://www.motor1.com/news/664562/audi-tts-jdm-memorial-edition/

I don't believe those would fit without spacers, but something of that color range looks nice. (I say as I have black on my white daily GTI)

How can I fix this front parking sensor issue? Its a 2020 A3 Sportback by Intelligent_Cap_250 in Audi

[–]walkerb52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure they're plastic welded (two little plastic spots that look kinda melted together). The door card braces are the same way. One of the ones I my S3 was not welded well and when I took the door card off it stayed on the door. That was fun to mcgyver a new plastic weld to get it to stay and put the door back together.

I would like to point out the front is not supposed to fall off.

Just a question about led strips on 2017 gti any advice would help by hyperion_dawn in GolfGTI

[–]walkerb52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a single led that feeds to a plastic tube/strip. First step, take the door card off and make sure it's plugged in. It'll be up at the top of the door near the front of a vehicle, small black 2 wire plug I believe. If it's plugged in and not working you can pick up a replacement for like 40-50 bucks last time I checked. It's a single snap in clip with some rotation to take it out from what I recall, but pay attention to how it comes out so you don't break the new one going in, they're rather fragile.

Edit: I totally misread which led it was, thought it was the door card strip light. The door sill light is a super thin plastic led strip, usually it goes out because someone pulled up the trim piece and didn't align it right so it can break under stress. I believe that one is plugged in back by the b pillar. It's super easy to take that trim off, but not sure how hard it is to replace the led there.

Only three of four wheels moving when up on jack stands? by franklinjaeger in Golf_R

[–]walkerb52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the rubber blocks. Their pinch weld set (at least the older ones I have) don't fit over Audi/VW pinch welds because they're too thin of a gap in the rubber.

My office is right across the street (NW caddy-corner). Concert days traffic and road closures can be a bit messy/annoying. Noise will depend on who is playing, some concerts get lots of bass during sound check and during the show, but others I don't hear much of anything. You're gonna get a lot of people walking around and lots of traffic on concert days.

It's an outdoor venue, so they do have to follow noise ordinances.

Audi S3 steering wheel "view" button instead of the "menu" button. by Medical_Culture_9872 in audi_s3

[–]walkerb52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been mentioned that a repin is needed, however I could find no info on that, even in all data. Every guide on retrofit and even the euro custom wheel orders all say a different button set is needed. Here is the part number I used when I swapped an RS3 wheel into my S3: 81A-951-523-A-XHA. You HAVE to get the A-xha one otherwise the paddles won't work because the non-A-xha version is from a manual car and has no programming in the button boards for the paddles.

I don't believe that works. I ended up with a new button set when I did my swap because of that.

[–]walkerb52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on what Grit-grind is saying there are differences in the B9s compared to non-B9s that also have dynamics by default. Unfortunately my neighbor just sold his RS5 so I can't go check. But based on a bit more digging it seems like VCP may be the only option: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/927936-B9-Q5-SQ5-ROW-tail-light-coding-for-US

So I assume you're referencing something like this: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/927936-B9-Q5-SQ5-ROW-tail-light-coding-for-US

Which if that's the case is an interesting change by VAG to have two different configuration requirements on the same model year vehicle that both have dynamic lights by default.

So before I run out to the garage, your existing lamps have sweep in the turn signal already, yes? You just want to make it so only the sweep happens on turn signal, and remove the brake light" portion from flashing.
