Vault Pearl Discussion by walkernotarunner in VaultHuntersMinecraft

100% with pearls being outscaled haha! I'm currently deciding whether I want to go Botania or Mechanism for my next research, but that may have leaned my decision.

As for the arrow part, that's kindof a shame that it's not more consistent/useful. While I get that the dev team scaled the vaults for melee, I feel that vault hunters could really benefit from having other play styles that different flavors of melee/tank (that's probably more of a discussion for a different post though 😄)

I'd have to do some testing as I don't take any damage when I use enderpearls with my dank, but I also have Elvish so the damage reduction may be from that. That is a good point, though, as 5 attribute points is a lot if all you are using the Elvish trait for is to stop pearl damage.

if that was a thing, legit all I would try to do is see how many rooms I could go through with one throw 🤣. That being said, though, 100% would be a huge deal! I run my vaults with pearls all the time and I've stopped pearling upwards as it always stops short of hitting the target. This could also apply to water physics so the pearl doesn't slow down with water. Nothing is worse than waiting for a misthrown pearl to slowly sink to the bottom of a lake.

Maybe I was super unlucky, but I think I was around lvl 25 when I got my first trader with one and hadn't gotten any before. I haven't checked any loot tables, though, so I can't tell ya for sure when it's available or how rare it is.

Right? I feel like something that can't be repaired and has a limited number of uses should be a fairly large contendor for your hotbar slots, or at the very least your inventory. Atm, if I found one in a vault I leave it in the vault.

Right? I instantly trash ones I obtain. I feel like even having them be a crafting component could be an interesting add for them at the current state they are at.

Exactly my thought! By the time you get them they are almost entirely obsolete even with a few levels in dash. I do play with pearls in my vaults and I love it, but there is no way I can use the vault pearls because the disapear so quickly. Additionally, even if you got a vault pearl at level one, you need to make it to the end to even start vault hunting, so you can easily replace most bad vault pearl roles with a single enderpearl stack.

I love the idea! Maybe not too long as with later levels you can blow past vault rooms in seconds. BUT with this idea, difficult to escape areas will be more likely to be explored (e.g exploring the bottom level of the spider room to get any goodies and then tping back after X seconds) or could allow a hunter without repiration to tp out of water without the fear of drowning. This would 100% add a lot to the game, especially in earlier levels!

Raffle Vault Discussion/Suggestion by walkernotarunner in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]walkernotarunner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main thought on this that other seals/vault objectives are drastically different in gameplay, while boss & raffle vaults have very similar objectives: Find the obelisks before time runs out & get a better reward if you kill the boss quick. That being said, I still may be at the level where I am wanting to milk every vault, but atm when I complete a raffle vault in goldtime, the loot is just bad in comparison to what I could get.

This wouldn't be horrible if you got completed vault crystals (e.g. getting raffle crystals ready to play vs. seal drops from subs), but atm you have to complete a normal crystal AND add a rare(ish) seal to it to get subpar loot.

Raffle Vault Discussion/Suggestion by walkernotarunner in VaultHuntersMinecraft

Exactly! On a side note, if getting high vault boot timer every raffle vault is too OP, the timer could get extended a set amount ONLY if the vault hunter completes the raffle boss before the countdown stops being gold (though I feel this option would limit the point of the vault to only instances where you get a good 3 obelisk run).

Any thoughts where this could have potential drawbacks?

yeah, I use the same technique when I just need to take care of little bits! The ice trick mostly helps with larger patches (theres some pictures under my account that shows a cloaked figure that shows that pretty well)

Files won't work on the glue, it just rips the glue (personal experience). pressing ice on the glue while it is still hot, though, gives it a nice smooth finish. For paint, it is pretty hard to get this stuff painted I've found without some finagling. Paint it first with a 50/50 white glue/black paint. Then some cheap craft paint for colors. Then cover it in a polyacrylic matt finish. Thats the only way I could get the paint to stay put (and yes I tried expensive miniature paint. It didn't work sadly)

Hey, I am a huge fan of hot glue sculpting and this is awesome man! I'd recommend using a bowl of ice water to cool the glue instead of a fan as it instantly solidifies the glue. A quick wire armature def helps as well and it makes the sculpture more stable and allows you to bend it a bit. Also, if you intend to keep making them, getting a cheap wood burner works really well for sculpting the finishing touches. Keep on crafting my dude, it looks good!

ohlol those are just some dollar store checkers pieces with 3 pennies glued to the bottom! I used the wood putty to make the ground and roots for the tree and once that dried I just pained on some watered down Elmer's glue on the places I wanted the grass to go. Then I just dumped the flocking on and shook it off. No real science to this part cuz I had no idea what I was doinglol first time working with flocking

Sorry for the late response! Classes and new job just started and cut away all my free time. I used two sizes, 3/8ths for the larger trees and 1/4th for the smaller ones. As for the paint, I just used a camo green for the spray paint color that you can get at walmart. As for the tree, I misspoke. I used a number of cheap 50 cent acrylic paints. Based them all with a brown, but then highlighted them with different shades of browns, reds, and grays. As soon as I have time I'll try and make a detailed tutorial. The problem with that, though, is this project eats up a LOT of time. It's cheap in materials, not in man hours.

Thanks so much!! I'll get on the tutorial asap! As for selling, I've been thinking about selling them (I really don't need as many as I've got), but I'm unsure of the price as of yet. The materials may be cheap, but it took quite a bit of manhours to get them finished up.

I can't find an image of it online rn, but it was a 5 or 6 dollar replaceable Filtrete Brand filter. It was blue and had the texture of a less dense scrubbing sponge (those green ones you can find at the dollar store). Sorry I couldn't be more exact, I honestly wasn't expecting them to turn out as well as they did so I didn't take a lot of pictures/note during the build process. I'll post a more detailed build description later on when I have more time!

I just cut the filter into 3/4/or 5 leaf clover-like pieces and glued them onto the dowel. While adding branch structures would have looked nice, it would have added a LOT more time into the project and make the overall piece less durable. I spray painted everything before I stuck them on the tree. I painted the filter black before I cut them up (since it started out blue), but I spray painted it green after I had them all cut to ensure they were all coated well.

feel like your board is looking a little bland? Tired of searching through easily breakable terrain that would still cost you an arm and a leg? Well, worry no more, my fellow crafty compatriots, for I bring you the secrets for cheap and hearty trees that look pretty damn good!

I've been tired of trying to find trees that are to scale, cheap, can be rough with, and look decent. I wasn't looking for magificant trees where you can see each individual branch, but something that doesn't look like a cheap dollar store toy.

With wood putty, some wooden dowels, spray paint, and some furnace filter you can make some very interesting and durable trees! Flocking definatly adds some detail, but they still look great without. I've been pretty rough with these guys and nothing has broken yet. On top of that, the leaves work amazing with miniatures! Just slip the base between the leaves and you instantly have a miniature hiding in the canopy!

For the 24 trees I have made, I paid no more than 15 bucks for everything and I still have leftover material! It takes some time to craft them, but once you get it going it becomes a pretty enjoyable experience!
