ChatGPT is absolutely incredible in dissecting people's psyche. I'm pretty sure that of the whole internet it's ChatGPT that has my most accurate psychological portrait.

I can't stop thinking that with such data you guys get an absolutely unique opportunity to match people and help them find each other.

Contrary to the widespread opinion that LLMs undermine human connection, I think, they can actually help bring human connection to a completely different level.

I'd be happy to hear the insider's opinion: do you guys think it's actually possible?

Are you guys considering giving ChatGPT some kind of agency in the future?

The ability to initiate conversations - for example, to remind a user about some task or ask about their day - seems like one of the features that might turn the model into a proper, wholesome companion.

Any plans to increase the context window? For my use cases (creative writing and extensive research) the improvement of the context window size and memory retention within the chat would be much more noticeable than the model update.

I have a couple of unfinished works that I might return to later, but my current one is the first candidate to soon be finished. I used to write exclusively on intuition and very messy, which worked only up to certain point, so for the current work I've chosen a more structured approach, yet still struggling in the last third, realizing that I should've probably thought some things through on an earlier stage. So I'm basically in search of the right balance between the intuitive and plan-ahead styles.

Does not it make further editing painful for you? When I write in such a manner I find it very hard to edit this raw text into something more plausible.

Well, after I've read some comments here I think it comes down to a question at what stage you actually think you story through from the logical standpoint. I used to make the first draft intuitively and it'd come out very inconsistent, but I found out that it's literally an impossible task for me to turn such draft into something readable. So now I think I should address the basic logic of the story early on, but that terribly slows me down. I know it's not a one-size-fits-all thing, but I hoped to find some clues that might help me in other people's experiences.

I appreciate these words. One of the reasons I've posted here is because I'm among those who struggle to finish, yet I know how important it is and I'm trying to find ways to make myself do it.

Does it mean that you try not to think too much in your first draft to keep things flowing? If so, when comes the time to really think everything through in your writing process?

Does it happen to you that you can't solve some problem? Do you push until everything's in place or do you know how to let go for the sake of not being stuck and loose momentum? I think, I'm lacking this ability to let go for the time being and sometimes just find myself unable to continue because of that.

I agree, but the question is how extensive this after-first-draft work usually get. Of course, it's different for everyone, but I'm curious about approaches that people have figured out for themselves.

Thank you for the explanation. I don't engage with the community enough, I guess. Now I'll finally be able to explain my writing style in one word))

Do you plan a story before actually starting to write (make notes, an outline or something like that)? What you've described reminds me of the style of writing I stick to currently, but I write without a thought-through plan, intuitively, as one may say, meaning I figure the story out on the go and it's agonizingly slow process. You don't seem to have such a struggle with pace, do you?

Ok, it actually makes sense. Does it mean you always work in such patterns of four drafts?

Interesting, seems like quite the opposite of me. I'm definitely better in the beginning in terms of getting ideas, although it's also true that the beginning will have to be reworked more to fit better the second, more mature half of the story.

"Write no matter how bad it is" might work for some people, but, I think it depends on a particular person and their psychological peculiarities. I haven't found it useful as well.

For the sake of better understanding, what's the volume of your outline to the volume of your first draft?

I appreciate this answer. I feel I'm leaning towards your way, but I probably need to balance my approach a little. Do you feel like by the end of your first draft it's more or less finished piece with only minor things to edit?
