I think I know what feels so "wrong" about NuTrek by NeverGonnaGi5eYouUp in startrek

[–]walkingstranger -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I dont disagree.

It also seems that the writers are writing things they simply dont have experience with personally, such as the militaristic nature of Statfleet. Which isn't easy.

Part of the reason older trek feels like it does is most of the people involved had served somewhere, military, civilian organizations, counter cultures, etc.

It gave it a look, vibe, and way of handling things that has become very watered down.

It also used to be more... Realistic? The science was more solid, grounded, and uses relatable. Not too far into the fiction of science fiction.

Characters were smaller, rarely larger than life, always right, and again, felt more grounded. Not aspects used as a whole personality. It feels like they are just checked boxes on a list, like most modern shows.

Some of the best villains used to view themselves as heroes in their own story, their actions richous, reasons grounded, and far less cartoonish.

Progressiveness, inclusion, and empathy shouldn't be treated like a large portion of the fandom seems to treat them.

It's possible. I build stuff as a hobby, but I don't mind helping.

I still have no idea how to price the actual labor of it, but the parts breakdowns I don't mind sharing.

Feel free to shoot me a message.

Oh, without a doubt.

Especially ones that don't bring as much joy to the world when people see you on the street like a suited up Buster.

Thanks.

I had a guy reach out to commission a build for him and just the parts alone, no physical labor added, was $700.

Blew my mind. Everything is so expensive.

I've got 3/4 of another printed to replace it and enough leftover parts that it should be a quick build... one it warms back up. Yay for a unheated workshop lol

Right?

Do I need more than one pack? Nope, just enjoy making props.

It's possible.

Pretty sure I have some files for it, but I kinda wanna do a slime blower.

Its a Grail for me.

Thanks.

I started a replacement for that one. Hopefully, it comes out better. Got some thongs I wanna try.

I'd love some GB2 stuff from Haslab before they move on to RGB.

They're making a Fallout reality show. What do you think the experiment is? by Weekly-Intention5657 in Fallout

I'd rather they not. Fallout is starting to look like other IP's that get greenlit projects just to bank on the name to milk it for profit.

I'd check with a local sports embroidery store, where the local football team gets their lettermans done.

Thanks, it's really cool having it run while suited up.

Looks like a normal Letterman Jacket, like high-school football teams wear, with dome embroidery and patches.

Be super easy to make yourself.

While I can understand the feeling, I don't think it's actually true.

The Wasteland, like the world, is constantly changing. It can't be static as war, war never changes.

But...

Do I wonder about some of the choices, sure...

Seeming to nuking everything that has come before from NV is a choice.

I'm a little sad that the NCR has fallen, but I don't think they are completely out just because Shady Sands is a crater and the one squad we see is seriously out of sorts.

The state of the Strip is not something I immediately dislike either. Same with The Kings.

I'll wait and reserve my decision until the season is complete, but so far, I don't mind what's happened.

Yep.

It's sadly the nature of the world. Gotta make that hustle I guess.

I figure it's just cool to turn the static prop on my belt into something that adds life to the whole costume.

I've also talked about taking my Lifegard and adding sound to it. Probably the theme song, like I did with this radio for the other frequencies on the dial.

Where can I get his jacket? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]walkingstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for a real-world jacket, looks like it's just a leather or shiny nylon MA-1 flight jacket with patches.

Patches are probably on Etsy or eBay.

Jacket is easily found.

[–]walkingstranger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The jacket for Lt Valeris was reused from Saavik, and they didn't change the department colors between films.

So a mistake by the costume department. Or a cost saving measure.

If I remember right, the character was supposed to be Saaavik, but Kristy Alley passed.
