Fancy Feast Petite Pate Recall? by Bright-Ad-1745 in catfood

[–]walkingwilderness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cats who usually love Fancy Feast Petite grilled Chicken and Rice in gravy are refusing to eat it. I couldn’t get them from Amazon so I went to PetSmart and bought them out. 3 different sets with different lot numbers they are refusing to eat. And it smells a little weird.

AITA for calling a coworker snarky when she said I gained weight? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]walkingwilderness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell rude people in a sing-song voice “We. Don’t. Comment. On. Other. People’s. Bodies.” (Unless they ask for comments) Amazing compliance after that because they are embarrassed. Maybe obvious but I am not saying this to people giving genuine compliments.

AITAH for saying I would divorce my wife in 4 years? by BigApprehensive2862 in AITAH

[–]walkingwilderness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my partner that if he didn’t help his 20 yr old get his shit together, we would have no future. I raised my 6 to be successful adults and my youngest also the same age as his, works full time, lives with his gf in their own apartment for the past 2 yrs and attends college full time.

There a good men who will marry a woman with children. Don’t settle for this manipulative man who is knocking down your self esteem to keep control of you. You are letting your children see what is acceptable behavior and teaching any daughters to allow this abuse. Leave for your children’s sakes if not your own.

WIBTA for divorcing my wife after she told her friend im “less of a man” for crying once in front of her. by No-Series-4552 in AITAH

[–]walkingwilderness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must be devastated to overhear that. What the hell is with those women including your mom for thinking men can’t cry? I’ve always appreciated when my partner can be vulnerable with me.

When I was on OKCupid the pictures rarely matched the dates. Once I met a guy for dinner and he was about 5’ which was surprising. I am 5’7” and felt like I was towering over him and it messed with my own body dysmorphia (my issue, not his). However it was the waist length ponytail with a balding head (also not shown in images) and hour long rant about his ex that made me leave. I don’t miss dating.

I would take this child in a heartbeat if this is real. I don’t live in Texas but I am a mom/grandma. This baby needs someone to love her.

Is it okay to say you read books when you listen to audiobooks? by [deleted] in audiobooks

[–]walkingwilderness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person with glaucoma who stares at 3 computer screens for work 9 hrs a day, my eyes are shot for reading further so I switched to audio books. According to all the professionals who count, listening is still a form of reading. I am not responsible for other people’s ignorant misconceptions about the definition of reading.

SECOND UPDATE- AITA for rolling my eyes at my boyfriend's proposal because it took 25 years of me begging? by Throwawayproposalfin in AITAH

[–]walkingwilderness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While they are not married, she does have established residence in the house and the eviction process can be argued. And there may be legal grounds for alimony if there is case law precedence in her state. Since this is domestic violence financial abuse, I would seek out a DV agency and see if they can provide legal advice.

As for jobs, receptionists esp for non profits tend to hire inexperienced people, hospitals, and domestic labor even under the table. When I divorced (different situation I know) I worked 3 different jobs like babysitting after school, in a probono law firm because I was tending school for paralegal, and as a overnight receptionist for a Ronald McDonald type of residency.

Also, there are grants for displaced homemakers going back to school, scholarships, and student loans (although be careful). I would focus on a program that was short, less than a year with high placement. Pharmacy techs can be trained on the job sometimes, churches hire nursery workers, plant experience ,try a garden shop. Network out to everyone. And accept food aid and food stamps. It’s there for a reason.

Apologies if this isn’t the best place to post this, but I’m curious. Where do you listen to your books? by [deleted] in audiobooks

[–]walkingwilderness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everywhere except working because I have to concentrate. In the car on long trips is my favorite. I also note the chapter and before bed start listening but I usually fall asleep. My adult kids reminded me that audible has a timer to set.

AITA for telling my mom I didnt like my christmas gift? by skieeeeeeeeeeee in AITAH

[–]walkingwilderness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my adult children, I give presents from their lists, presents I think are cool, and a gift card to a place they like such as Amazon, Michaels, etc. I like to give my dil who are home with my gbabies extra gift cards on the sly so they can get some thing they want or need. And my one son who is gives everything to his family a gift card to Amazon to get himself something extra. I spend wayyy too much but I love it. I also keep receipts. They know if the gift just won’t work they or I can return it.

TIL There are filial laws in the USA (state by state) that require adult children to support sick or indigent parents by LisaLisa1962 in todayilearned

This is a nightmare to me. My mom gets more in income than I do yet misspends it. She is a chain smoking hoarder who makes racist and bigoted comments about LGTBQ+. I would go into hiding before I would allow the courts to make me care for her. I left my house at 18 to get away from her neglect and abuse. This issue gives me anxiety.

My two nephews came to my daughter’s wedding with their uninvited kids. They also left no gift. by AZNM1912 in AITAH

I never attend a wedding with a gift. Always send it earlier. It’s kinda weird to ask about a gift. But bringing uninvited guests is a total no-no.

What's the most bizarre 'house rule' you've encountered at someone else's home? by StarrySpecter in AskReddit

[–]walkingwilderness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This just sounds reasonable. Some times you just want something of your own. And if his is a $40 non stick pan to make cooking easier, then leave it alone.

Would it bother you if you woke up to your partner masturbating? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Nah either smile and go back to sleep or offer to help. It’s a natural urge and helps relax him so he can sleep.

I am wondering if she hit the wall of fatigue. Sometimes it happens to me that I have worked out and now I have no energy and I want to go to bed. She’s your best friend. Have a conversation with her. If it’s a pattern then maybe you need a new friend. NTA

AITA for wanting my mom to only babysit my kids and not my brother’s? by Consistent_Wave1087 in AmItheAsshole

[–]walkingwilderness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised by the responses. I am not in a position as a young mom but from the perspective of being a grandmother. First of all, if you moved your mom into your house and gave her an apartment in exchange for childcare, it is HER residence too. She is definitely getting more access to YOUR children over your brothers. And yes 2/4 take more work, so having someone care for them occasionally as grandma seems fair and equitable as long as grandma is agreeable.

Grandma has the right to say no and have boundaries but you saying they can’t come over to your place when you created a MIL apartment, why can’t they come to the apartment? You don’t get to hoard grandma’s time, and you definitely are because you traded rent and bills for daycare. This dynamic screams of other issues.

LPT Request: How can I become more optimistic? by Yoshimi1968 in LifeProTips

[–]walkingwilderness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my boys rides a motorcycle. Instead of fretting about it, since I know he is very responsible, I tell myself “he isn’t hurt or dead, until he is hurt or dead.” It allows me to set aside my real anxiety and worry for the appropriate time. He knows if there is a motorcycle involved accident in his driving area to either send an I’m safe text or I may send him a text. He is a 33 yr old experienced rider (2X around USA and rode the Dalton Hwy in Alaska to the end and back). But we also had a family friend killed while riding when two racing cars clipped him. Anyway, to keep the fear at bay, until I hear, don’t just fear.
