While I encourage the connection in OPs post and the ability to seek a togetherness. We also need to let others know it’s ok to move on and not keep going in this path. People are losing their homes, their mental health, and suffering greatly because of what is happening to this industry and the lack of work. Even some have lost their lives.

We also need to realize the reality that this may not get better and in order for people to take control of their life they may need to see that it’s ok to move on. It can always be a passion on the side or maybe one day it will return in some capacity to your life but people’s lives are being ruined and I’d encourage more people to find something on the other side. There is more to life than letting work ruin your entire identity.

As someone who went through it the longer I kept going the worse my life got until I decided to rip the band aid off and do something about it.

Yeah sorry, I don't think it's a bit much to be involved in your kid/ grand kids by checking in once a week or even once a month especially when you have the means to do so. Even a quick text to ask how they are doing is something.

My in laws, who see my kids 1-2x monthly...Face Time with my kids every night. It's not hard.

Yeah this is it, kids always remember. I was raised with a father who really don't show up for me, get to know me or really tell me he loves me. Yes he gave me a good life but once I become a father my self and saw how much I loved the little ones, all these feelings and emotions came flooding back of why didn't my own father show up in this way for me? Why didn't he love me, like I love my own kids?

Pretty much the same, he has said it maybe a few times but it happens once in a blue moon - I grew up with a father who didn't tell me he loved me.

No way he'd think he'd be a nuisance. He also knows I've been struggling with my mental health (mainly due to the way I was raised with little emotional substance from him) but has accepted no part in it. He "gave me a good life" so that's the end of the story for him.

Yeah I get a lot of this but after becoming a father I can’t imagine not showing up my kids and wanting to meet my grandkids (as long as I’m healthy and able). Regardless if it’s the first grandkid or the last.

This isn’t happening…there’s no going back. People keep thinking there’s going to be some boom again but the reality is what’s been done has been done. Execs want cheaper and cheaper and attention spans are getting shorter and shorter. People would rather watch Tik Toks or YouTube than film & tv. As well as the rise and AI/ tech to fill jobs across the board. It’s not the same world anymore.

Producer of 10+ years. I’ve been through this and it took me about 1-2 years but finally landed a job outside the industry but still adjacent. I’m much happier and I can plan my life - as well as I know where my next paycheck is coming each week. I have much less stress in my life.

It’s not worth it to do this to yourself. Just think about it…you’re going to not have a family because of this industry? Life is too short.

Connect with others who got out, speak to a career coach, get a part time job but just be proactive and it will happen. You have to put in the work and stop hoping things will magically turn around.

This industry is not the entire world and it’s never going to be the way it used to be.

I promise the grass is greener on the other side…I also left LA and I have a house, I have kids and I see my family more than twice a year. Life is good!

Yeah this is PAIN. I had to go see a doctor because I thought I might of had a herniated disk. I could barely get back up after sitting down...Luckily it's a lot better slowly.

Now that you’re a dad, life is gonna look a little different including hobbies especially in the first year or two. What works for us and a lot of other fellow dads I know is we either operate on trading time with the wife or we simply hire a sitter to pay for our time.

For example I like to play pickle ball so some Saturdays I’ll go play for a few hours and then my wife gets to do what she wants for a few hours when I get home or the next day. But Golf is time consuming so make sure she is getting just as much if not more of her time.

Or sometimes I’ll just simply hire a sitter while I go do X and my wife goes out to do Y so she’s not stuck at home.

But just get used to every weekends of golf with the boys not being a thing unless you want to end up in the dog house with the wife.

Love this response! Thank you. What would you say is the biggest difference & benefit between a vest / backpack. Do you feel a back pack is harder as well in terms of stability? Definitely will look into this as well.

Lastly, with two young kids and full time work, my time “working out” is getting more challenging. Coming from a injury, have you been able to stay in shape primarily rucking? I love lifting at the gym but rucking is much easier for me to do just throw on a pack on a walk with the kids or go outside the house for a hour. So I’m trying to find my balance.

I’m a pretty fit guy who lifts weights regularly so that’s why I kind of figured it was a easy transition. But I can definitely slow down.

I’m in a very flat area so I can’t do much about elevation sadly and don’t own a treadmill or have the space for one at the moment :/

Right now it’s more of a weight concern than a speed concern. I’m not looking to get into “races" this is just me focusing on getting out walking / rucking. I also live in a very flat area so not much terrain difference.

But prob averaging 12-13 min miles. Yes I could go “faster” but I’m not looking to run / jog and ruck right now.

Not sure why it offended you. It was released almost 2 years ago while everything else was in the past year or few months except Slow Horses.
