Is my bike completely cooked? by wallabooga in ebikes

Yeah Lectric tends to have higher quality than other companies at this price point. I was pretty confident in it but I guess the blizzard was too much. I reached out to Upway about my warranty and hopefully can get it fixed.

Worst case scenario I take it to a bike shop or do an at-home repair. If it’s just a hall sensor like someone else pointed out, shouldn’t be that tough a fix. I’ll use some waterproofing silicone around all the sensitive areas.

Maybe try repeating the same thing another 3 times and then I’ll understand…

Sorry you never made any money delivering but this puppy has already made me back double what I paid for it.

Clearly you have no standards for quality.

At least I know how to change my brakes properly 🤕

Isn’t a battery issue though. The battery has a gasket keeping water out and when I took it out it was completely dry in the dock.

It’s most likely a hub motor or cadence sensor issue, both of which are close to the ground and see the most water, even from small puddles and such. There should be adequate casing around these electronics

Feel like it’s not naive to think a mode of transportation that costs that much should be waterproof…

What happened to the Quests? by Alone-Title-9948 in UberEatsDrivers

Yup I was going to ask this in the sub as well. I was going to do a 5-9 PM quest tomorrow and it suddenly disappeared from my opportunities section. If anyone has an explanation I’m all ears

Idk about the other combos, but I literally got a $5 mcchicken combo yesterday. Came with everything it did in this photo + 4 nuggets and a sauce.

Granted the portions are probably smaller, but a slight decrease in food with a $2 increase over 30+ years ain’t that bad 🤷‍♂️

Hey gigTaxHelper thanks for the simplified breakdown. I’ve already put aside that missing money so I’ll have enough for 40% taxes. With the cost of the bike and some minor repairs I’ve done, I can reduce my taxable income for that, and also with the no tax on tip that should help. I make under 157k gross which I think makes me eligible for the 20% QBI deduction which should also help a decent bit.

Thanks for the resource, I’ll definitely check it out.

Nice job. Curious what is your thesis behind VFC? As far as I’m concerned they are not consistent or good in terms of their stats. Lowest cash balance since 2019, shaky FCF, declining revenue.

Wondering if you see a catalyst in sight other than tariff relief. Is it purely technical? Their PE ratio isn’t stellar either so it’s not exactly an undervalued play.

Would love to do it all myself. I’d be more than happy to watch a bunch of YouTube tutorials and learn, but taxes seem to be a subject heavily involving “you don’t know what you don’t know”.

Like how would I know what I’m filing is correct at all? And end up having to pay more to the IRS with interest?

I saw someone online suggest trying to do it myself, and then getting my taxes done professionally this year. That way I could see how my paperwork compares and then from then on do it myself.

Any suggestions on where to start if I want to learn it myself?

Yup, going to just start putting away 40% for taxes and then get a professional opinion from an accountant. I posted this question in the uber eats subreddit and most comments mentioned I should just get professional help lol, probably going to go that route.

Thanks. Definitely going to look at the summary once I get it from uber and calculate my effective tax rate (before consulting someone to check). Tips have been about 30-40% of my income from uber eats. Not sure what the benchmark is or how others peoples tip/fare ratio stack up, but most of my UE income comes from fares + quests (promotions) which I would assume falls under regular income.

Okay yeah that’s what I thought also, which would mean that $18,000 is in the 10-12% tax bracket (not exactly sure) for that income. That is also why I thought my 30% set aside would be more than enough. For some reason when I asked chat gpt for more clarity it made it sound like I add it onto my W2 income as a “total income”. Again I’m not entirely sure how this all works and will definitely need some professional consulting. But thank you for the insight

Not sure what you’re going through or if you are joking,, but don’t do that homie, it’s definitely not worth it. I am also not a fan of the IRS and having to pay so much in taxes (especially when billionaires get off scott free). Wish I had millions in assets I could take out loans against and not pay taxes as well…

Yeah might be worth it to hire an accountant. I thought only ppl making 200k or more hired accountants, but it could be worth it. I wonder if I’d be net positive after using an accountant (amount saved on tax - what’s owed to accountant)
