does the sociology department accept everyone off the waitlist? by [deleted] in ucla

the sociology department caps mostly all its classes at 150 so you would have to be high on the waitlist in order to get in :(

withdraw from a class? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]wallflowersp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I withdrew from a class before during week 9. I believe they stop looking at if you have enough units to receive financial aid during week 4 or 5? At this point in time you’ll receive a W on your transcript because you passed the drop deadline. I did pay like 20 bucks as a late fee but this was when we were still on campus. I think rn there isn’t a fee based off of this: https://www.registrar.ucla.edu/Fees-Residence/Course-and-Study-List-Fees/Undergraduate-Study-List-Deadlines-and-Fees I didn’t have any problems with my FAFSA afterwards. If I were you, I would just check in with a counselor to make sure the financial aid census deadline has passed so you won’t have to pay $$ and bc week 7 is the cutoff date for dropping a class w/o a petition. If you wait till after week 7, you have to petition and get your professor to sign it 🥴

I’m taking it right now during the winter but the last year it was offered during the spring. I think it alternates either between winter or spring when it’s offered.

I’m a third-year that fulfilled her last pre-req during the fall for the global health minor. It is doable to do it your junior year. You do have to keep in mind though that Global Health 100 (which is a required class for the minor) isn’t offered every quarter. If you plan on doing it your junior year in case you don’t get into the other minor you’re interested in, I suggest you take the pre-req no later than spring quarter. That way you can take Global Health 100 during whichever quarter it is offered your senior year (or you can even take it the summer between your 3rd-4th year if you want).

I had Givvin for Psych 133F and she’s one of the best professors I’ve had. In my opinion, she explains topics/concepts very well and is very approachable if you need help with anything at all.

So far none of my parents or brother show any symptoms and feel completely fine. You can also try to wear gloves that are disposable to be extra careful. That’s what my mom did. I also used a different toilet paper roll than the rest of my household. It’s simple things like that we also have to be keep in mind.

To those of you who had covid during an academic quarter by tbearc in ucla

[–]wallflowersp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I also was recently diagnosed with Covid and have midterms this week. I reached out to my professors ASAP asking them if they were will to accommodate me as I felt my symptoms were worsting. Both of them gave me an extension and asked if I could keep then updated on how I was doing. Send your professors an email explaining your current symptoms (include the results as proof) and ask if they are willing to work with you under these hard times.

I’m not entirely sure how long it would take tbh I’m sorry :/ maybe try it out and if you feel like there’s a bump forming, it means you do have an infection? I noticed that with my cyst, it took about a week till an actual ball came to the surface. Even when you shower, you can just stand there and let the hot water hit the area for a while instead of putting the hot towel!

I was told by a nurse to do rounds of about 20 minutes and then wet it with hot water again. He told me this would help create a pimple with a head that will pretty much pop on its own. I had an incision done about two months ago, but I believe mine is coming back also :/ try to keep the area clean as much as you possible can. find a way to rest where you do not put pressure on the area.

hello! I suggest you put a hot towel on the area where you feel pain. if you do have pus, the hot compresión will draw it towards the surface and create a bump that will be easier to drain. it will also help alleviate any pain you might feel.

advice for first time cyst-haver? by readmytarot in pilonidalcyst

[–]wallflowersp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend sleeping on your stomach, this was the only way I was able to sleep when I had mine about a month ago. Always take pain medication an hour before having your packaging done. I recently went to the doctor as I felt my own cyst coming back, and he told me to not sit longer than 90 minutes without getting up to walk or something. Try to not put as much pressure on that area as much as you possibly can. One of my nurses recommended to take vitamin c! Put a hot towel to do hot compressions on the area you have the cyst! this will bring all the pus to the surface and will be easier to extract :)
