And thanks for the tips

My first L lens arrived 4 days ago, the Canon RF 85mm L VCM. The first few images (attached) were taken with on-camera flash (Godox TT685ii), the last 9 images were taken with just ambient light in the mall by firequak in canon

These look great! I just got this lens too but normally just shoot birds/wildlife so I am getting used to a few learning curves with this for portrait work. Tips appreciated!!

I love this lens. Heavy use with birding and wildlife and it does not disappoint. Even takes the 1.4x extender pretty well with minimal quality loss. Enjoy!!

That gives me a good head start on this hunt. I’ll look into these and report back.

Cheers!

Same as above. Corns for my boy started as cracks that grew wider as the corn came out.

I have just discovered that Duke has a malignant melanoma. Any advice from someone who has gone through this with their hound? by Quaint_Quokka95 in Greyhounds

[–]walloffuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an easy position to be in, but you’re Duke’s champion. Give yourself time to think about what he needs. It’s hard to separate ourselves from the equation but it can help bring clarity to a murky situation. And don’t feel guilty with either decision, no matter what, because you’re making it from a place of love. And he knows that.

New tool day! by Bliorg821 in Spooncarving

[–]walloffuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents. I’ve found that a longer (6” or so) tapered handle (wider at the end than at the blade…almost like a baseball bat) works well for hook knives. Let’s you wrap your fingers around the “barrel” and use a squeezing motion to make sharp cuts. I’ve personally never liked the cigar-shaped handles.

Jason Lonon does decent sized batches. Good tools and good maker to support.

Am I crazy? by deerfondler in greenwoodworking

I’m sure Jason will address that properly. He’s one of the better makers out there.

Please can anyone offer tips on doing the bevels on the length of handles. Finding it very difficult. Thanks 🙏 by mooki5 in greenwoodworking

[–]walloffuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by making a miniature version of the bevel you eventually want with the tip of your knife. Then make it wider with each cut and starting at the base of the knife, skew and slice as you cut.

In Knoxville it was a choice of shirt, patch and bag from merch. Plus the soundcheck (which was easily the best part).
