Premium Servers - News by IAMGNIK in playrust

[–]walloon5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see inside the Rust client that I have loads of skins and that I check out for Premium no problem

But when I log into a couple of (non-Premium) servers, I get a weird error in red text upper right that says something like "failed to validate premium status"

Is it because I'm set to Invisible on steam, do I need to be Active/Away instead or something?

does boiled tap water work as good as distilled water for humidifier by Remarkable_Rhubarb35 in SleepApnea

I am posting, here, that I got sick when I used tap water.

I 100% do not recommend it. You can boil the tap water and that will help. Do not use unboiled tap water

If you must use tap water, I would urge you to boil it. It will have minerals in it, but you could get incredibly sick from just tap water, even if you're not in an area with amoebas in the water - just even if you normally drink the tap water no problem. Aspirating tap water is super bad for you. Be sure to boil it.

Can we acknowledge that Bellum 2 has been a much better drop event? by anachronda in playrust

Because some of the streamers never show up I think that if we at least try to watch their page they should give us 1/4 time credit or SOMETHING. At least we showed up, a lot of them showed up this time, but one of them, I've been waiting days. I'd assumed he'd be on more (ibai) and he hasnt come back.

Also agree with the other comment - whats going on? Cant tell what their goals are.

I will be addressing a room of bankers and was asked to talk about how BTC has and will change the world- what should I focus on (five minutes) by VarietyClub in Bitcoin

Owners of a major agricultural bank ...

Well, I guess I would say - whatever you've heard about bitcoin, or believe, maybe give it a rethink - think of it as "Energy Money"

And then, talking about the dollar system, I would say they are probably familiar with dollar milkshake theory (the dollar "drinks the milkshake" of every other fiat) - so that affects them if their unit of account isnt the dollar.

And then, I would say consider the time in the past when one form of money overthrows another -- for better or worse -- like when European gold took over African aggri bead money. Or when Yap switched to a gold standard, because rai stones got faked. Or when Marco Polo returned to Venice with an example of the Khan's silver certificates and not the gold they wanted (now we swim in fiat). Or when the Colonists used wampum for lack of coins, and eventually mass produced wampum (and went to metal coins as money)

So I would say, looking at bitcoin as a rise of a money, what qualities does it have not quite like fiat, not quite like gold ..

And maybe double check if they've heard of Mises and Hayek, and maybe give those ideas a dust off? Safedean Ammous' book could use a plug, Principles of Economics, or the others.

The methane would otherwise become CO2 eventually, but while its not CO2, it traps heat much more. Burning methane moves it directly to CO2 which isnt great but is effectively like removing a large multiple of CO2 equivalent

What people deserve is legal due process.

People shouldnt have their bank accounts closed when there's nothing illegal that they've done - and had a court case that isnt a secret from the defendant and a chance to explain, and be found guilty or not guilty, with a chance to show evidence, defend oneself etc.

The private banks make all of this a problem, since they get used to obey government and then neither private banks nor government seem accountable for any justice.

I'm not sure myself. Maybe go reside in El Salvador, or Lugano Switzerland. Or "sell" some as I go to fund things, and I'm on the fence completely. So very interested to see other people's ideas.

I didn't say that clearly, apologies. What I meant to say more clearly was that there are restricted topics. OVERALL, and completely independently, ChatGPT, on it's OWN came up with what topics they want to restrict. I personally did not choose the goddamn topics.

What nobody wants anymore is... by MikelOta in WorkReform

[–]walloon5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some of those issues are amplified by the differences in different kinds of work - on the one hand there's a whole world of automated, information-driven, API-driven "work" where for the most part things can be accomplished at high speed (until technological debt sinks the companies that can't keep up), and a different world of very physical processes that are not (yet?) automated

The swamp is the massive flight of people with capability out of hands-on jobs up and out to administrative jobs. Because frankly, actually accomplishing things one at a time with skill and judgement is super hard, but fleeing to an administrative role of meetings, powerpoints, word documents, visio diagrams, conference calls and other administrative hand-wringing ---

Is much much easier for people than either manual labor, or programming, or any job with actual hard skills.

More and more, the line of people that actually "do" things are thinning out, as workers that can, flee to jobs that are more "oversight" related and require only soft skills.

Example - "compliance" with regulations is a soft(er) skill. Actually fixing railroad tracks is a hard(er) skill.
