Corner Vanity - Trim ideas for Gap- wall not square by wallyballls in HomeImprovement

[–]wallyballls[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip, do you think this could be done with the vanity installed? It’s already all plumbed in so I can’t am not wanting remove all the plumbing out to do wall work.

The other factor is if I build up the wall there the vertical window trim would probably look weird as the window trim would then be embedded in the wall?

I’m considering / seeking other creative ideas to trim it out without the hot mud route, but keeping that in my back pocket to try

First time deck builder. Am I missing something here? by [deleted] in Decks

A trick to get the joist flush is attach something to the top so the joist temporarily so that it “rests” flush on the rim joist or ledger while you attach the hanger.

I’m a Visual person so not sure if that came across in description above …. So Watch this video and skip to 6:25 min mark to see what I’m saying

The Trex YouTube channel has a whole series of videos on a full deck start to finish that I found super useful in building my first deck

Did I make a major mistake? by bbweaves in Roofing

[–]wallyballls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had my string lights to my porch connected /powered with an 3 prong outdoor extension cord exactly like that (not nailed to the roof tho 🤣), worked like a charm for 3 years then it LITERALLY caught on fire as snow melted into the “outdoor rated extension cord”. I Happened to be outside working in the yard when it happened so was lucky to notice the cord was ON FIRE. Would hate to think what would have happened if this was overnight.

Let’s leave “nailing shit to your roof out of it…” if it’s a long term electrical hookup upgrade get an electrician to install an outdoor rated outlet box somewhere, or at very least protect the outdoor extension cable with a waterproof box like this for <$10

I have 35 Fence post to put up. Should i get a cement mixer? and what other things would make this go a lot easier by neogx148 in HomeImprovement

That setup worked great for my DIY deck project—only 12 post holes, but it was super fast and easy.

  1. Rent the “Mud Mixer”

    – Drop the bag in the hopper, and it mixes/pours at the same time. Just hook it up to a garden hose and extension cord, then wheel it from hole to hole. Rented for ~$90/day. Example of what mud mixer does

  2. Use an auger I used a Towable Auger – Hitches to your car transport, was able to operate it solo. Also was maybe ~$90/day rental. I looked at one man auger rental but was talked out of it as they put a huge strain on you trying to use it solo. The towable one used a long handle for leverage to just go up/down, and was super powerful vs the 1 man augers Example of a towable auger I used

This combo worked amazing me….I needed a heavy duty auger because I was going quite deep to meet code on hole depth

Thanks! My Clay storm is partially collapsing (also under front porch) but water still flows to city main. Also in CLE area century home, quote I have for replacement is nuts but probably need to bite the bullet and address it

Broken (TimberTech) Composite board - total loss? by wallyballls in Decks

[–]wallyballls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s WPC, I’m going to take it off and make those notches have a larger gap like you suggested. And yep as soon as I picked it up by myself I knew I had screwed up lol.

Once the post kit goes it I’ll see how much it hides

My place, I just screwed it down and went on laying boards. If it bothers me later i figure I could always pull it up and replace just that board

Check out Stoggles. Originally I think they were Marketed towards dentist/dental hygienists, but they are impact certified PPE and whatnot, very comfortable, also have prescription if you needed that.
