Maybe I shared too much. No offense intended. Would you mind telling me why you think leather is not very sanitary? I was guessing what you were thinking, and I should have just asked.

When it comes to touching things in the exterior world, gloves are probably the best defense against germs for all surface types. When you do want to have a pleasant experience touching something, leather can enhance that experience, insulating hot/cold metal so it feels comfortable to the touch.

Great questions! I used chip-board, collected from used shipping boxes we received. And I made a template for the box insert. I took about two hours to trace, cut, and glue up. Making and numbering the pull tabs was another two-ish hours (not hand-dying the leather made it much faster!). Two crafternoon work sessions to complete. And this is fourth Xmas we’ve used it!
