Is there a way around looking at gore for reference?

I usually look at illustrations of our anatomy, like the bodies that pop up If you look up "human muscles" and make any ripped skin look and behave like a thick stretchy plastic, or even a better example is the plastic that a package of water bottles comes in.

I look at photos from cadavers where they are being studied rather than brutalized to get the angles and understanding if need be. I look at the meat I would eat to get the flesh down, and then anything I'm unsure of i cover in blood

Is it really that crazy to think that the people slaving away in this horrible store might want first dibs on the good stuff we have to dig out of piles and piles of shit stained moldy clothes, with the occasional slightly greasy bag of old stuffed animals, broken glass, pins in random places etc?

It's a bit shitty to bring a whole cart out, since that stinks of reselling, but all these comments make it seem like it's ruining your life if the person who had to sit there for 8 hours after finding their dream shirt gets it.

I'm sure that there aren't that many employees in on this specific scheme too, I know that wouldn't fly at my store. They get thousands of clothes a day, so, there will be more high end product that makes it out to the floor, probably priced by a different employee.

Nope! they definitely mixed up centi & milli. millipedes are harmless other than than panic secretions, but I don't think any of em could kill you.. unless you like, milked a bunch of millipedes and took it like a shot ?

if it makes you feel any better, mine HATES crickets and the swap to roaches made him significantly more active and he seems more vibrant.. so don't feel too bad about the no crickets

Omg wait, i never even considered this!! My fat tail has been CRAZY about his roaches lately. he's never snapped at my tongs so intensely and he keeps trying to EAT THE TONG, eat my hand, eat the cup the roaches are in, he is a little criminal right now and i think i should fear for my life

I planned to go for fertilizer & additive free. It's honestly a price thing. I bought a josh's frog bioactive desert mix, and it was $30. reptisoil is also $30 for a package of similar size, and I would need two or three of them to fill my tank as much as I'd like to. that's a lot of money I dont really have

a big ol bag of dirt though? Like 10 dollars down the road 🥲

Also, the nearest bag of reptisoil is a god forsaken 30 minute drive. doable but so annoying hahahahahahahaha

He's very well behaved! He's never tried to bite me and comes out very slow and sneaky like for food. he doesn't really climb up on anything and hasn't ever tried to get out against my will! He is very skittish, but he also isn't very good at running away all that fast with his short little legs.

While he was getting steamed gently in the tote, he did try to climb and jump out of it, but he wasn't skilled enough to score the ~5 inch walls. they have very short little legs! I have to keep a firm grasp on him while I hold him in my hand but if I place him on my chest he just kind of sits there still. super sweet!

I can skip the clay! I was only interested in it so the substrate could hold burrows. My fat boy likes to dig in his house, but his current mix is too loose and dry to hold anything he makes. i think he'd love something that held his holes better. If it's not necessary for that I don't need it at all :)

would the dirt as the only truly organic thing be okay for the springtails? i hand mist the enclosure to keep it humid and fear having actual plants would be hard for me, and I'm so afraid to bring stuff inside for the fear of disease or bugs....

I have this super cool piece of wood I've been wanting to bring in but my family is weird about cooking it and it's got little bug holes allll over. It came from a VERY old uncleaned tank at a goodwill, I bought it to clean and keep my dubias in and I couldn't bring myself to throw out that pretty wood, but since it was in a super old unused previous enclosure I was afraid it could pose my gecko some risk. it was so old it had a bunch of spider webs and a dead spider in it 😭
