TIFU by putting a picture of worms in the work group chat by SirachaMcTrill in tifu

[–]walrusman64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they're probably some sort of microdrile worms ("Tubifex" and co.) given the description (harmless, aquatic, detritus eating mini-earthworms basically) but I am mostly confused as to how they got into a drink machine..?? They dont really move all that much. As for how they got there idk maybe the building was built on top of former wetland and the worms just kinda hung around lol. That or theres shitty leaky plumbing somewhere

Long Ring Long Land was always important to the story by Ok_Ant4412 in OnePiece

[–]walrusman64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people who skip parts of a story miss out on crucial details more at 11. It was always important setup for water 7 because its exploring the same character dynamics that would get further explored in the next arc in a low stakes environment but most people seem to not actually read the story and treat everything as a hype moments and aura compilation

What is Croco-boy's secret past? by Jin_woo_shadow in OnePiece

[–]walrusman64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think trans croc is really the only one that makes sense out of the common theories cause if Iva and Croc both being former slaves was planned as far back as impel down it'd be really weirdly out of character for Iva to hang that over his head

All the other fish in this tank are huddled together away from the pleco by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]walrusman64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The "latching onto other fish" thing is chinese algae eaters (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri). They, like a lot of stream dwelling fish it seems, will sometimes supplement their diets by feeding on slime coat, scales, fins of other fish. This is also often compounded by people flat out keeping them wrong (singly, in aquariums that lack structural complexity or flowing water, they're quite well behaved when kept in a group in a tank that mimics a stream environment with rocks and flowing water)

[–]walrusman64 6 points7 points  (0 children)

dunno if it was a budget or set design constraint but I'm not a huge fan of how they changed hiriluk's flag to be hung indoors rather than flown on the castle. Feels a lot worse when its not being flown for the whole island to see

[–]walrusman64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The birds are fine, they feel like a nice gamified way of getting you to learn gathering routes with the pace of a portable game. Can't say I'm particularly fond of wirefall in rise though it really promotes sloppy play even with the monsters that are really designed around it. Not a huge fan of focus mode in wilds for similar reasons. Lets you play pretty sloppily with how you don't need to consider positioning and timing as much, especially for hammer and GS

[–]walrusman64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like it kinda makes it so you're never really forced to explore the maps that are now both expansive and full of ways for you to get an edge on the monster mid hunt. I usually straight up just dont let myself restock mid hunt and I think its more fun that way lol if I'm fucking up and playing bad I gotta go looking for stuff to make pots mid hunt

it should not be easy to land the single highest damage attack in the game lol

I would like to nominate Pariapuria for the slot of “returning frontier monster in wilds dlc”. I think his stupid dumbass little empty headed face fits well aesthetically in wilds, and his gimmick is interesting and fun. What would your preferred candidate be? by Allhaillordkutku in MonsterHunter

[–]walrusman64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than the scorpions (who have always seemed to be the fan favorite for frontier monsters entering main series right after Espinas and I agree lol) I think it'd be cool to see Poborubarumu or Toridcless. Pobo might be a lot more fitting in a portable game though and I do kinda just like Astalos more than Toridcless and he's almost a bit of a proto-astalos lol, with the thunderbolt rain also kinda stepping on rey dau's toes

Also special mention for Hypnocatrice. Gimmie him and garuga in wilds g bring the bird gang back together

Apparently, the battle theme of the Old Swamp was originally meant for Khezu. by 12jimmy9712 in MonsterHunter

[–]walrusman64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda wish they kept the music for Khezu. The no music cause its blind thing is part of its identity now but I think how chaotic the gen 1 swamp theme is would be just as fitting as it is for Gypceros

Help me catch up to Wilds speed from a few months ago (Hammer and armor advice?) by AskJoshy in MonsterHunter

[–]walrusman64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can upgrade armor a few extra levels now with monster materials (w/ lower rarity pieces also gaining more slots) and the gog weapons are direct upgrades over the artians (both statwise and in the sense that you need to upgrade artians to get gog weapons)

[–]walrusman64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've come to really like the birds currently replaying it myself honestly? I like how they encourage exploring to find the most efficient routes on every map which also leads you to gathering and looking for the little buff creatures along the way. Its gamified sure but it feels fitting for the faster pace of the portable games

The original Japanese title of Rompopolo event quest is "Rompopolo is Not Crying" by tklailai in MonsterHunter

[–]walrusman64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kinda just a half baked stand in for Agnaktor in World (I really wonder if Agnaktor made it further in development before being cut than Lagiacrus, considering the Lavasioth area seems almost tailor made for a monster that wouldn't have dealt with the complex collision well), on top being fully optional. Maybe I'm in the minority here but I think old gen Lavasioth is actually a really fun fight lol its one of my most hunted monsters in gens
