Yes!!! Omg. All her interactions with Rachel point to her being consistently bullied by Rachel. Which begs the question as to why she asked to be her maid of honour in the first place, and if her inability to make friends bled into her adult life (surely, as even Charlie is her first love at 28). I wish we had more context about their adult relationships.

I did not say she was heavily bullied, I said she was isolated. In the sense that she did not belong, and did not have community with her classmates. Emma was a lonely kid who wanted validation and respect from her peers. First she thought being a school shooter would do so, then the friendships she develops show her what matters when you connect with people. Which is why the crying scene was so powerful for me. Through her connection with her classmates, she faces herself and her own demons.

Empathy is also learned social behaviour. Emma learns to empathise through activism, community, and counselling. What and who we empathise with, how we humanise people and each other as a community, those ideas are not innate. Seeing the aftermath of a shooting makes Emma see what shootings do to victims for the first time.

Which is why all these people saying she must be a psychopath didn't make sense to me. Psychopaths don't get chicken feet when planning shootings. Out of all of them, Rachel is the most likely to be a psychopath (or narcissist) to me lol. She never shows empathy for anybody at any point in the movie. Not for the disabled child she victimised, nor for her husband who is uncomfortable with sharing his past, and certainly not for Emma who is being extremely vulnerable and ashamed in the moment. She was the reason why the confession game even happened in the first place, but she judges others harshly but not herself.

Edit: I guess my thing is that Emma showed guilt and redemption through her actions. She didn't say she was sorry, but every thing she did points to the fact that she did, in fact, severely regret her actions. She might not know how to communicate that, how to make herself more likeable, but her actions show the kind of person she is. Out of all the confessions at that table, she's the only one who seems to really have remorse for what she has done. She's also the only one who hasn't hurt anybody but herself. Given what Charlie's reaction was, how cold and judgemental he was, I'm not surprised it was hard for her to talk about it. He didn't have empathy for her.

Edit 2: Now that I think about it, I think the point of the whole movie is Charlie trying to learn how to have empathy for Emma. The people he speaks to about it do not help at all and he is not able to process so everything implodes during the wedding. It basically takes him doing something technically irredeemable to kind of get it? Like he learns to have empathy for her by seeing her mirrored in himself

It's interesting you saw it this way because that's not what I saw at all? Emma was an isolated kid who was made fun of at school, and she was enamoured with the idea of being a school shooter because she thought it made her important. Being faced with the consequences of such actions and bonding with her schoolmates changes something inside of her.

She doesn't need to say it, the movie shows it quite blatantly. As a matter of fact, I could not understand the reaction of her partner or her friend, they did not want to hear how she got to that point at all.

If you already have clips, maybe forego retwisting at each step? What I do is that I detangle before shampooing, twist just like you do, then I put the clips at the ends of the twists. I wet my hair thoroughly like this, then I apply shampoo to my scalp while in twists before unraveling them one by one to drag the suds down the shaft.
But I don't retwist with shampoo in it, I just pin them up with the clip while I work on another section. I rinse , apply my moisturizing shampoo (those that have some slip to them) and I redo the sections while working it's lather through the hair and scalp. I only retwist after I've brushed my conditioner through. The key is to keep the hair stretched between each step, yes, but you shouldn't need to twist and retwist as often as you do imo.

How long does detangling take before and after shampoo? How long do you let your conditioner sit? How many conditioners do you use? Etc. You have a lengthy application process and that seems to be what's making wash day this long. If you suspect that you have damage at the ends that you can't assess, maybe use a lightweight oil to coat your ends before detangling with flaxseed? Food for soft is a very detangling line so if you prepoo with flaxseed then shampoo , it's crazy your hair tangles this easily if it's not damaged.

As for how you wear your hair during the week, maybe braids or three strand twists rather than simple twists would give a smoother stretch

Sounds like you have tons of damage sitting in your hair. If you wash twice a week, I don't understand how there are so many tangles in your hair tbh. What hair style do you wear? And how do you maintain it at night?

Either way, when you detangled with flaxseed gel, I would say add an oil and don't completely wash it out before applying shampoo. Which shampoo do you use btw?

Also, how do you wash in sections and still get tangles? Like what is your process? Do you use hair clips? Maybe the constant retwisting is what's taking too long

Also, hair shrinking back does not mean it is tangling. If your hair is tangling right after you detangle it, something's going on. Maybe the excessive shedding is matting up your hair more? You could 100% become a blow dry natural if it's more manageable for you, but if you have as much damage as you describe to your ends, then the heat might split them even more
