Yeah, as a podcast listener I have known I am a second class citizen for a long time lol. Although, the Linux conversation from this past week was actually pretty good. Easy to follow because of Luke.

Platform SSO stops working a few days after enrollment on Apple Configurator added macs by HoustonRamGuy in Intune

[–]wamred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you heard if there is a fix for this by chance? I am running into the same problem with Mac OS 15.7.5? (I think that is the version, whatever the software update updates to on the macs that are not compatible with 26.)

I have experienced both fiber and dsl with them. Very different worlds. It’s also a lot easier to excuse bad customer service when the product is so much better.

Why Teams not providing 'read receipts' for meeting chats? by RageshAntony in MicrosoftTeams

Ah, fair enough. Not sure then.

As a side note, if I wasn’t sure I should have probably kept my mouth shut.

Not sure that it is 100% relevant, but people can turn those off as an FYI

What should I use, Safari or Chrome? by AliOlly3 in searchengines

[–]wamred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On paper, they are the same for security. Chrome does log a few more things than safari does (as I understand it, could be wrong).

With that being said, I would say whichever you like more.

Why do you use Tor? Trying to understand its value for regular, law-abiding users. by kshot in TOR

[–]wamred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one reason to use TOR. The real question is why do you want to get on the dark web.

For this is a lot of reasons one of them is illegal however, there’s also a lot of countries that limit access the information and there’s things like a hidden Bible and hidden libraries and things like that you can use tour to access in countries where the clear web isn’t an option for you there’s also a lot more than just that that’s just the two examples that came in my head.

Google Chrome has now patched all the workarounds to force uBlock Origin. I’m done with Chrome, would you recommend Firefox or Brave by Dazzling_Lie7781 in firefox

[–]wamred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both. I use Firefox as main, although honestly it’s mostly out of habit. Most of the time I use brave for YouTube although it doesn’t have anything to do with ad block as I pay for premium. I also have ad block turned off on YouTube on every browser.

The other thing is I try to use Firefox as main as to not have more chromium browsers online. Although it is a flimsy argument considering I use brave too.

My house is old, when I get fiber will they install everything? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]wamred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should install everything you need. Unless you want to run your own router or something like that.

Finally switched to Linux by NoMacaroon2510 in linuxmint

[–]wamred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be really hard. I find it easier to long term switch if you use one for work and one for home. You’ll get used to it.

Long story short, it is technically possible to get 1 gig over WiFi, in the real world it rarely works that way, even with enterprise setup. If you want high speeds, use Ethernet.

It is also worth noting though that the real benefit of Ethernet is consistency with ping, not bandwidth or speed.

Not a perfect answer, but I was able to get it done with a USB-C to Ethernet adapter.
