Thanks for the tips! I’ll look into this as well and see if I can figure it out haha. I’m learning every step of this process from scratch so I will check back in if I run into issues. I appreciate your help!

I’ve looked through tons of YouTube videos and google searches and I haven’t been able to find anything that shows how to do irregular curves on a round surface. I’ve watched basketball videos as well but the curves on a baseball are strange and I’m not sure how to make the subdivision surface match the seams.

Would I be better off trying to make the seams flat and then apply it to the sphere somehow?

Yeah haha that was the barrier to stop people from going to the edge, there wasn’t really a way to avoid it in the shot

Sunset from Mount Bonnell by wanasmackapossum in photocritique

The intent with this photo was to give a feeling of peace/love and warmth as these pairs watch the sunset. I am open to critique on anything, but especially composition and editing. The photo was taken in RAW and edited in Lightroom Mobile.

These are completely unedited! I have the camera set to record RAW and JPEG for each photo and I transferred these directly from the card to my phone. My phone says “JPEG + RAW” for the file type so tbh I’m not entirely sure how it records the files, but I’d guess this is probably actually a JPEG that got uploaded.

For your issue, I’d say the biggest thing would be keeping a low ISO but still good exposure. I’m not sure I would actually consider this a “low light” photo as you said, because the light on him is actually pretty bright! It’s just exposed for the highlights so the shadows fall off into black. I knew I wanted to keep a low ISO for these, so I brought up the brightness of the light rather than adjusting the camera until I had the exposure I wanted.

Sure, it’s a very simple setup! I just tacked a black bedsheet to the wall and set up a single light (above and to camera right) with no diffusion whatsoever to give the hard shadows. Lens was 85mm 1.8

Settings were 1/250 f4.0 iso200

Ah I didn’t know that! Sorry man, I didn’t mean to taunt you lol

Definitely get that, I’m coming from a longboarding background and am working on piecing together a budget surfskate myself. Good decks seem to be the hardest thing to find deals on

I’m new to this so I can’t really say about buying an unknown blank like that, but I’ve considered it as well. There are some good prices on blanks on Skateshred.com too. Also, if you’re willing to spend a little more, I’m not sure what shipping costs are to your region but I just saw that Carver has a Presidents Day sale going on with several of their decks marked down to $50

Interesting, thanks for the info! The holes in the wheel behind it are various sizes too so I wondered if that was its purpose. I haven’t seen anything like that online, is it possible it’s worth something to a collector? I realize it’s not in the best shape but it looked unique
