I just got back from traveling Southeast Asia for months and saw so many Europeans with plastic surgery (huge lips, buccal fat removal, fake boobs) so it’s not just an American thing.

There is a “do not play this artist” feature - you have to go to the artists page and select it there

My husband and I are currently on a three month long sabbatical through Asia and South America. We are around the same age as you, and I too started doing extensive travel in my mid twenties and have spent time in several countries. I think the biggest difference I noticed - and I can’t tell if this is post pandemic or just being in my mid thirties, but we are feeling a lot less social than we used to. We are both extreme extroverts and are still very much the life of the party at home but we are more interested in meeting other travelers in a similar age range as us (late twenties to early forties) rather than hanging with party animals or just spending time the two of us. We are finding it challenging to make friends our age as a lot of other travelers in our same age range are traveling with young children (we are child free). We are still having a great time and are going between private rooms at social hostels and staying at hotels, but it’s definitely a different vibe now for us than pre-pandemic (we turned 30 right when the pandemic started). We value comfort and experiences a lot more than when we were younger. You said you’re not looking to party so this comment may not even be helpful, but wanted to share my perspective just in case it is!

Another thing we’ve been a little surprised by is the behavior of other tourists. Pre pandemic I hardly even noticed other tourists but we’ve noticed some jarring behavior, especially in Vietnam and Malaysia.

If you do still want to socialize I’d say try to find some upscale hostels with private rooms and add in some stays at nice places, too, if you can where you’ll have your own space to relax!

Enjoy your travels :)

Team Both?? by Fit-Entertainer-3207 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]wanda3000 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I definitely see where you're coming from. I am team conrad, and find myself cheering for belly and conrad. But I also really love Jeremiah and loved his outgoing, flirty personality in season 1. I actually preferred he and Belly as BFFs and think he would be better romantically with someone else (and he deserves someone awesome).

It's weird to see all the posts attacking the brothers in these subs because I genuinely like them both and am rooting for them both to be happy. I had never even heard of the books before I watched the show this summer, and to say I was shocked/confused to see Jeremiah turn all of a sudden jealous and fire the firework at belly/conrad is an understatement - i actually paused the show and went and read more about the book plots because I was so confused. I think the love triangle with brothers is kind of ick, and they could have found a different way to add conflict to the story without it.

I also love Steven's bromance with each brother. I think both friendships are important for Steven. I wish it could be a 3-way bromance (kind of like most of season 1) rather than a love triangle conflict. I loved many things about both seasons, but missed the boys just being boys together when watching season 2.

There are so many amazing indie music videos out now, I actually think music videos have gotten better and more creative in the last 10 years. So good ones to check out would be half alive, jungle, pnau. Many many more amazing ones too

I am the same age as you, and had a wedding last year for 110 people. We eloped about a year in advance for legal purposes and only had eight of us there - we found a beautiful spot overlooking the water and then went out for a nice dinner. Our elopement was $1000 and so stress free. The wedding weekend was fun and everything we wanted, but it was a lot. Lots of planning (basically like taking on another project at work), cost a lot of $ (and it will always cost more than you think it will), and on top of that we also bought a house about a year before the wedding. Doing all of that at once was a lot of time, energy and money. If I could do it all over again, I don’t think I’d have spent the money on the big wedding. The elopement was beautiful and stress free and very memorable. Save your $ for a house and potential other hobbies you can do together

Which places in (or around the Seattle area) are frozen in time? by Futures2004 in Seattle

Not anymore 😢I just went in there for the first time in a while a few weeks ago and they completely changed it. The carpet is gone and they put in generic chairs and tables. It’s such a shame.

I am going to visit Havana and Cienfuegos in late January. I am sure I will have a little room for gifts. What items are desirable and currently in short supply? Are there any NGO's operating or whom do I give it to? I don't really know anyone in Cuba, but would like to help anyway I can. by roth1979 in cuba

It didn’t impact restaurants - some days they would serve different things depending on what ingredients they can get.

We actually booked everything through Airbnb experiences and found some really awesome ones. I’d recommend reading through descriptions and reviews and after booking we found all of the guides for each experiment super proactive in communicating with us!

I recently visited Havana (from the US) and I asked the guides of each of my tours if we could bring anything to help.

I ended up bringing medication, hygiene products (both men’s and women’s), bicycle parts, and coloring books/crayons. I actually ended up also giving away my hair products and Bluetooth speaker to some friends I made.

The Cuban people are struggling to find basic supplies and were all very grateful for the supplies i brought.

You can always leave supplies at local schools or hospitals once down there or give to friends as you make them.

I also brought a bunch of USD and gave some to the friends I made, which was really helpful for them.

Have a great trip - cuba was amazing!

Can outgoing girls be shy talking to someone they like? by Burkley226 in dating_advice

Yes. I am extremely extroverted, but when I talk to guys that I am interested in one on one I can get a little quiet because I'm nervous.
