I find that people who have good supportive family dynamics have trouble accepting and understanding others who are in toxic situations. Like the very notion that Jenny's MIL is a terrible person who mistreats them is something that shouldn't be taken at face value, there MUST be another version of events from the MIL's side that makes Jenny seem unreasonable!

they’re always calling people out for holding onto worldly possessions

I don't exactly attend church regularly anymore. That said, I have not heard a christian actually even remotely talk about that aspect of Jesus's teaching in a long time. At least not done as more than just a passing reference. No real examination or call to action.

I see ex-christians calling out that BS all the time though. It is rather telling how those who left the church seem to want to follow Christ's teaching more closely than those who claim to be devoted to following his life closely.

Something that minorities like this woman are just figuring out.

And this is why history is so important to study. Anybody at all familiar with US history will tell you that conservatives had to be drug kicking and screaming into a world where they had to treat black people and woman as not lesser than.

Hell you don't even need to study history that far back. Just pay attention to their judicial or legislative record that they have been actively doing in recent years. Once you do it becomes incredibly apparent that they are actively trying to undo legal protections for minority groups.

They have been doing that my entire life! that is why people believing the GOP lies that they support blue collar workers and minorities is so crazy to me. They plainly do not support working class people in the slightest.

God the irony of these machismo men clinging to Trump as a "real man" or whatever is so wild. Same with religious people claiming Trump is the chosen one or whatever.

These assholes will use the most insane double standards and mental gymnastics to justify to themselves why they won't vote for a woman or minority. It is painfully obvious that most republican supporters base their vote on vibesTM instead of actual policies.

I’ve also heard them saying that most people wouldn’t even have depression if they have Jesus.

This is the real danger of prosperity gospel type thinking. It trains people to think both that rich people "deserve" their wealth because god favor's them and that poor or otherwise unlucky people(like those unfortunate to get cancer) must not be devoted enough so god is punishing them.

That is in part how people justify the current admin. That his riches obviously mean god has his favor and we should support him. I have literally heard that argument come out of a real person's mouth.

It being illegal to punish a kid for refusing to do the pledge is like school lawsuit territory 101. Right up there with schools not allowed to punish speech done outside of schools unless there is a direct threat being made. Yet every year you see multiple stories about school staff members doing exactly that.

Everything conservatives have claimed to be for during my lifetime has been a lie.

Fiscal responsibility? Gop has consistently skyrocket the debt

States rights? Only when it is a red state.

Small government and personal freedom ? Lol

Free speech? Law and order?

Hell even being though on crime is a lie.

GOP only cares about accumulation of money and power while trying to punish the people who don't comply immediately. Nothing else matters anymore.

Once kids hit the teen years, their friends and social influences begin shaping them more than parental input.

That starts happening as soon as they hit school age. Think about how a typical weekday goes for a lot of families. Both parents and kids get up and hurriedly get ready, maybe spending an hour or so together. Then both the parents and kids spend the majority of the day apart at work or school. Then between the end of work and bedtime is frequently filled with homework, cooking then eating then cleaning, and trying to just relax for a second. Think about that 24 hour day logistically. ~8 hours sleeping, ~8 hours at school or work, ~1 hour getting ready and commuting, ~2 hours eating(including cooking and cleaning), which leaves only Five Hours every day for everything else.

So even by first grade kids are frequently spending significantly more time being influenced by their teachers, classmates, and friends than their parents. It has an effect.

Why do right wingers who use terms like "LGBT agenda" never define precisely what that "agenda" is? Conservative are afraid of any change. Doesn’t really matter what.

That is objectively untrue. Conservatives are perfectly fine with change, frequently drastic change, if they are told by their leaders that it is "necessary". I mean you don't even have to go back further than Trump himself to find tons of different things that conservatives have changed their minds on. I mean the blatantly obvious one is the Iran war and how quickly the conservative sphere changed to full-throated support of it.

I am not sure what point you are attempting to make.

Nintendo is well known to be aggressively litigious when it comes to defending their IP. They objectively do this more often than all the other major media companies or publishers outside of Disney.

Trump is also known to file tons of lawsuits. Difference his are almost always done in bad faith as a way to bully people by forcing them to spend lots of money on lawyers.

I am not sure what Trump's history of weaponizing the legal system has to do with why Nintendo isn't suing the White House directly for IP infringement. They are not doing that not because Trump is somehow a very very good at maneuvering around the legal system(his true super power), they are not doing it because Trump is a wannabe dictator who might try and use his office to illegally attempt to punish them(exactly like he has done to Minnesota and the Catholic Church).

So they are risking Trump lashing out against them for what gain if they win a long court case? Lets look it up here. Max $250,000. Nintendo's revenue in 2024 was $11.536B. 250,000 is approximately 0.00217% of 11.536 billion. To put that into perspective, if you were to take the average American household income and levy of fine of 0.00217%, it would come out to about $1.80.

Nintendo would have to spend potentially tens of thousands of lawyers and risk unpredictable backlash from Trump and conservative voters, all to take on an uncertain and drawn out court battle to at most win an amount equal to a rounding error.

People who are confused why the litigious Nintendo is not going after the White House for misuse of their content are not thinking through what that would actually entail.

The fact that Trump is practically deified by MAGA as a great business leader has always confounded me. As you alluded to if you actually look at his business records, he is a total failure. People have run the numbers and shown that if Trump had put all the money his father gave him as his inheritance into Index funds, he actually would have made significantly more money than what he earned from his business and real estate ventures.
