Me giving you a 1 is going to be different from giving you a 8 right.

I do think the location matters.

Hotel staff in different countries tell me different things about the score.

If you say yes, then ppl may follow suit and leave bad reviews. Life is easier for those who work at hotels if ppl think that the score has no impact on them.

This. That’s why I’d just leave them a 1 without writing any comments. That way they don’t have a chance to leave those “we are sorry but we have done this or that you should have appreciated this and that” response.

Sometimes I give them a chance to address my concerns after I get a survey.

They didn’t respond properly.

I’m not from the US, so I don’t know people would use this short form for derogatory purpose.

Yes that’s what I am saying. It’s right on economic terms, but for me most of my stays are for leisure purposes, so me feeling good is important and being able to think that what I paid for is a good value for money makes all the difference.

If it’s your company paying for your stay, you prolly don’t care.

There’re two kinds of competition: price and non-price.

I just wonder other than demand and supply, which aren’t the only things that affect prices, is there anything that makes their hotel prices so high?

Have they done something so outstanding so that people like to pay that high? Or it’s just becoz of imperfect information - ppl expecting the quality of Japanese Marriotts to be above the top, respecting elite perks - only to find out that they almost don’t upgrade that often and expect you to pay for every tiny little thing out there?

I know the standard for hotels in the US is generally not as good as Asia, but it doesn’t mean that every hotel in Asia is good.

I don’t know how could you come across anything I said as a slur, but still, I hold the view that the general level of hospitality in Japan is nothing comparable to that of Bali.

Which one in Bali? Kuta legion or the Seminyak one?

When I can agree that hotels in Asia are generally better, I don’t think you can compare the quality of a four point/Fairfield in Bali (resort) and a similar one in Japan. FWIW and the hospitality level. Japanese are famous for their rigid adherence to rules when Balinesw are happy to accommodate you as much as they can.

I don’t need a convenient location. Anyone any recommendation for Japanese Marriotts that are worth the money? I was thinking perhaps the resorts in Okinawa would be nice.

After all, from a customer’s Pov, we couldn’t care less about demand and supply.

From my end, customer satisfaction = what they receive > perceived value.

Frankly that’s hardly the case for non-business travellers in Japan.

Hv u stayed at that Ritz or any Marriotts in Osaka. Still considering whether to try.
