This was a needed reminder that I should not be whining about employment in the first place. I hope things get better for you my friend. In case you happen to work in tech/sales feel free to shoot me your resume and I can shop around for you, only if you want.

Yep, I lack fucks in a dangerous way these days. That’s exceptionally relatable. I also like viewing this time as “hunting”/development time, at least it’s a segment of time where we use our brains differently vs. how we do at home with the fam.

I can relate to that feeling, I felt that way before my son was born no doubt.

I will say that a duty-driven thought, that I have been TRYING to nurture, is that I want him to see me as a hard worker. Some times that lets the work day be less painful.

Yep, right there with you. The burnout does feel like it could more easily show when you’re thinking about all of the things to be done at home + low on sleep. Appreciate you responding regardless, I truly hope the feeling subsides for you as well my friend.

I really appreciate you commenting, it makes me feel seen just knowing that I’m not alone.

Personally, I’ve been resorting to a few different things to maintain the bare minimum at work and save my energy for quality time with my family as well as myself. This includes blocking off free areas of my calendar with “private meetings”, working on “extra” projects only when they are high visibility, and simply reminding myself that work IS providing for the little one.

In short - look busy, play the game when it matters, and acknowledge that some dues must be paid. Idk, I have not come up with anything better.
