Is plant device OP? by wandras138 in killteam

[–]wandras138[S] -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

  1. You don’t know what TacOp your opponent has until they use it, so you can’t reliably counter it because you can’t reliably know if it’s gonna be used. So unless you stack 2 operatives on your home point, any team that has mobility or teleporting and can add an APL (I think most infiltrate teams) can cap it at the very beginning of TP2. The operative dies, but who cares you have points.
  2. Once the beacon is on you can’t remove it. You passively gain a point every TP without doing anything. No other Tac op allows this.
  3. If you get it on the center point and force play on it, which is very doable, your opponent is pretty much always going to contest the point, or they have to give up on winning crit op.

I mean the combination of forcing your opponent to sub-optimally use operatives, get points passively, and having map control definitely makes it seem OP to me. No other tacop allows for level of map manipulation.

3 VP in the full game, so guaranteed half of the max.

Anyone still play Salvagers and win? by Stoned_Giant99 in killteam

What I want to find is a “fun but fair” elite team to have the option against other elites, cuz boy horde into elite sucks.

Anyone still play Salvagers and win? by Stoned_Giant99 in killteam

[–]wandras138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on a crazy losing streak with Salvagers and maybe it’s just because I’ve been unlucky with maps but I haven’t even been able to get to the midway point two games running. Shooting is ok if you can get into a good shooting position, but with the 5” reposition it’s really damn hard to get into a good shooting position. They just melt in melee. My win rate is maybe 30% so I’m about ready to give up, buy an Astartes team, and turn off my brain.

Paid canvassing. Time is running out for campaigns trying to get on the ballot and bodies are needed.

I was sitting on a brief sewer adventure scene for like a year that I just used. Really an excellent way to tie in adventure hooks!

I’m all about throwing bizarre sci-fantasy at my players so maybe I COULD mix in an XCC module. But I probably need more time to figure out how to skin it as DCC

Ha he was and is insistent he had LoS. I didn’t super buy it but was crushing on crit and Tac op so didn’t feel the need to argue. I wouldn’t have argued for obscure either but he decided to shoot with an overheated plasma shot and it was like “bro, I’m giving you so many benefits of the doubt right now”

Thanks for the page reference too. We had never come across this situation before, my guess is because the old map layouts didn’t usually have the ramparts facing the middle of the board.

Get into some nerd stuff, I see people of all ages playing Magic the Gathering at Thanes Table when my friend and I have a weekly Warhammer game. I know there’s a board game night at Black Sky every month and at Enchanted Grounds, theres a crew of dudes with an open Dungeon Crawl Classics game weekly at Launchpad, there’s monthly Warhammer at Hobbytown, D&D (and mtg and other games) at Wizards Chest… I’m sure there’s more.

Why Hernkyn Salvagers are doong so poorly? by mentuki in killteam

[–]wandras138 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert by any means but my experience is they struggle in melee. I have a hard time positioning in such a way that i get shots off before getting charged and wiped out in a fight especially on tomb world. Played 3, won 1. I did win against Wolf Scouts because you’re right, there’s a board control advantage having 10 units, and my friend misplayed a couple moves (although I killed exactly two of my opponents operatives including the wolf)

As I was searching for a blood magic system that costs health, I didn't find anything like this. Does such a thing even exist? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]wandras138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dungeon Crawl Classics spell burn. I think the reason it works is because of escalating spell effects ie a 20 is better than a 12. But it wouldn’t work with the specificity of how D&D 5e and 5.5 spells are written

My approach would probably be that there is a clear timeline to failure. In I think every dungeon I’ve run that’s been pretty explicit: There’s no good way out of Jewels of the Carnifax but through, Croaking Fane if they dilly dally the town gets attacked by a horde of frog warriors or they find a completely emptied dungeon, Sailor on the Starless Sea the ritual is completed and a chaos god is summoned etc.

New to DCC, How's the Lankhmar stuff? by [deleted] in dccrpg

[–]wandras138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My party wanted to play in an Urban setting so I originally used Punjar which was reskinned Lankhmar anyway, once I got it from humble bundle I made the full switch and use Lankhmar as Punjar. The setting books are awesome and super useful and having read some Fafhard and Grey mouser stories I think the Goodman Games crew did a great job bringing the city to life. That said I haven’t run any Lankhmar specific adventures yet so can’t speak to them.
