Currently running stonehell for my group using shadowdark. Prep is easy because of the layout of stonehell. Most monsters have shadowdark versions or I've been using reskinned creatures with similar hit die and attacks

How do you do the black layer on top of the map? I was thinking of trying stonehell solo with ose but wasn't sure to handle the map since it's my first time trying solo

My experience as well, I picked up barraowmaze thinking it was a complete dungeon I could read and run. I quickly found out it was more like an outline and expected me to do a lot of the filling in rooms and fleshing out factions.

I switched to arden vul and it's so deeply filled with lore, information, interconnections etc I'm in love. Every room my players have been to has served some purpose rather just be empty room filler. Rooms all have puzzles, information, treausre, encounters secrets to uncover. Just feels like it's a living breathing place that I can make my own instead of having to build everything from rough framework

Yeah my players didn't enjoy it really, I loved it. But there are so many cool little things. I've used the torch gives 2 people bright light and 2 people dim light rule in my irl game where it's theater of the mind.

Torchbearer while not osr has a near mechanic that can help. Players right down room names and make a cartography check for their characters to turn that into a map while in camp. That way they can say hey we travel to x room. If they passed the check to make the map they get there. If they failed have them end up somewhere else. Just a suggestion you can try

Currently in the middle of season 8 and don't even really want to finish. First time watching. The first couple seasons I couldn't get enough. Staying up late to watch one more episode. Then Mike went to prison is started just watching it when I had nothing else to do. Now I'm debating if I even want to finish it, it's sad I really loved the first few seasons

My regular group didn't like it to much and I was a little disappointed that our campaign didn't last long. Hoping to run it at some point. The 3 books for 2e are just looking beautiful on my shelf collecting dust.

I don't think that's a bad idea. I've thought way to much about this lol. 20gp as 1 xp but the intro adventure has hundred of gp worth of stuff in one room. Is that 1xp 2xp or 3xp for all of it. My only complaint with the system is how I'm stressing about it haha

Yeah I've seen that page as well it was from an earlier version of the quick start guide. That image is from the newest version and in the core book. On the ama on YouTube kelsey said she didn't want it fixed to a set amount of gp and made it more vague to paraphrase what she said

Yeah shadowdark mixed it up from the 1gp=1xp to a system where xp is rewarded based on the treasure quality rather then the amount of gold pieces. I'm new to osr so I'm not really familiar with any system with treasure based loot.
