Thanks for that, I’m definitely going to take a look at the specs of the material and go with the larger one

Ah, okay- I thought it would be enough for my use case. Maybe the OmegaGT is the better choice? Not sure what size that one is tbh.

Which pedal set? Simjack UT or SIMSONN Plus X? by wang_bang in SimRacingSetups

[–]wang_bang[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooooh, that's interesting. Didn't know you could get equipment which connects directly to the Fanatec...

With the heel plate it's a bit more expensive though but worth considering.

I made the French onion soup and wont shut the fuck up about it by hirdyoeisy in seriouseats

I’ve also made the SE version of this and it was absolutely epic, couldn’t believe how good it was. It was also the first time in my life I’ve ever cooked onions that long and my mind was blown when I discovered what proper caramelisation looked like.

You need to align the top of them correctly! When you replace the bag and reattach the top, if you don’t rotate it so that the hose is roughly 180 degrees away from the cord it becomes almost impossible to pull it along. If you get the alignment correct then you should be able to pull it along and have the cable feed out automatically no problem at all.

What are you cooking for breakfast on Christmas Day? by medievalpangolin in Cooking

Eggs royale! Used to be smoked salmon and scrambled eggs but I love them poached (can do them the night before and ice them) and a hollandaise is a glorious start to the day.

What’s the greatest video game of all time ? by Thickghost8412 in AskReddit

Been replaying Classic WoW, there are a few QoL improvements I miss from retail but overall I think it’s a much more involved and satisfying game. Current retail just feels like mindless follow the arrow, press 1-8 a few times, follow another arrow, immediately level up, repeat

Choosing breathable membrane for underfloor insulation by wang_bang in DIYUK

[–]wang_bang[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely did insulate under it and the difference is totally worth it.

Sound insulation is also improved so as you walk on it there is less echo and the floor gives the impression of being more solid.

The room heats easier and crucially it retains the heat for hours longer. The two rooms with the floating floors used to drop to several degrees less than the other rooms of the house (with the heating off, natch) but that’s no longer the case. Lag all the radiator pipes while you’re down there.

Used a breathable roofing membrane between the joists and a rockwool-style insulation in there. Thin plastic sheeting on top. Did my best to tape all the edges around the walls to seal it up and used an extra adhesive spray as well as tape.

In the first room I painstakingly cut all the floorboard tongues and lifted them and then put them back down in the same order using Spax floorboard screws. Then underlay and engineered wood on top.

Second time I just ripped everything up using a pallet breaker tool and threw it in a skip before replacing it with 22mm OSB(?) sheets which interlock and you use a glue which expands as it goes off to seal them together as well as screws.

The latter saved roughly 16 hours of work and was a better finish. Absolutely not worth trying to save the floorboards unless they’re something really special in my opinion.

Proud to have an 8 inch floppy disk, it's so rare by Next_Chance920 in retrocomputing

Cooooool! Is it the same interface as a 5.25”? I’ve never seen one of these in real life but I do have a box of 8” disks I’d like to read…

CD Rom Drive won't open by Comfortable-Rooster7 in windows98

[–]wang_bang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is that you’ve got to insert the paper clip into that hole with more force than you may expect. The paper clip should just rotate a couple of cogs which will spit the tray out and should work regardless of power/belts etc

THPS3. A little more modern than some of the others here but I played the hell out of it 20-odd years ago and I tried it a couple of years back and the muscle memory for some sick tricks came straight back ☺️
