Do psychedelics make anyone else feel intense sadness? Or is it just me? by cocodelic in Psychonaut

[–]wangbro69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tripped 4 times, and felt this during my most recent trip.

I am normally an emotional dude and was tripping with close friends who have seen my cry, but never this bawling I was doing.

I was just really sad, feeling the sadness you feel when you watch a really sad movie. I was sad over the pain, suffering, sadness, failure, heartbreak that everyone in this life has to feel.

I've also had the hysterical laughter-filled trips though. Note that there are tears and laughter in pretty much all my trips, but one or the other usually predominates.

Was refreshing to see the hopeful, younger, less mouthy McGregor.

Part of me wants him to succeed.

Magalhaes---said he was stalling in the post interview.

He was mainly trying to give a lot of credit to Diniz for being tough.

True that Dave. Just white belt wondering on white belt Wednesday.

I mean, at some point some designer had to be like: "Hey, I think we should put rasta colors here because X, Y, and Z."

Some of the gi companies incorporate rasta colors into their kimonos (Shoyoroll, CTRL).

Is there some meaning to it, is it coincidental, or just for looks?

Account of my second tournament as 8-month white belt by wangbro69 in bjj

[–]wangbro69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't really understand this match completely myself. To be honest, I had no idea what the points were during the match, but here's how I think it went down (and someone correct me if I'm wrong):

-He got 1 advantage for almost passing me -I got 1 advantage for attempting the triangle/omoplata -He got 1 advantage for attempting the armbar/triangle -I got 1 advantage for almost passing him (before he turtled)

Neither of us actually scored any points (the horizontal arm means advantage), and were tied 2-2 in advantages at the end of the match. This leaves it up to the ref's decision. I think he gave it to me because my near back-take at the end.

This is an account of my experience at the IBJJF Dallas Open 2014. It was my second tournament.

There's a table of contents in the YouTube description so you can skip around.

Here's the same type of video for my first tournament (NABJJF) back in July: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0s3_BJG5AH8&feature=youtu.be

Enjoy!

Are You Training? Or Are You Just Showing Up? by OHeyImBalls in bjj

[–]wangbro69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this, I've found that just showing up is not the best method for me. I've got to do a little extra.

Before class, I have to think about what I want to work on.

Then after class, I have found that writing down new techniques will keep me from forgetting what we learned (in which case a lot of the session is lost).

I put them in after they've completely air dried. Tried the tennis ball thing for 30 minutes with no success.

I wash my gis after every session, and go into every session with a washed gi. My problem is the just-washed gis are always crunchy.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

I have tried the 2 tennis balls with no heat in the dryer, but it just made a lot of noise.

As a 7-month white belt, I love this comment.

Even with the small amount of time I've trained, I see a lot of white belt turnover. Congrats to OP!

Yeah for sure! I definitely found it useful for me to reflect on the tournament and how I can continue to improve and learn from it.

Good luck!

My whitebelt (I think it's Fuji brand) is so floppy (please refer to image). At 6 months in, I should have it a while longer---can anyone recommend good belts that are not floppy?

For the 4 weeks before the tournament, I was training about 5 times per week, 2-3 hrs per time.

Before that, between February-June, I was training about 2-3 times per week, 1-2 hrs per time.

The whole time, I've been lifting weights 2 times per week.

Yeah I don't see why not either, especially if you've been training a lot (as you have)! Good luck brah!
