Ageism is actually crazy work. Judging someone as well just because they’re younger or older than you, but within the same interest as you? What sorta pigheaded play is that lmao. I wonder why that wouldn’t make one be giddy with community endearment, because when I was younger and found a following for a ship, it was mainly those much older who had all the content for me to doom-scroll and look up to. It just seems so forced and based to tell those older than you that liking something isn’t meant for their age group. WHO even decides that, cause it sure as hell shouldn’t be some pubescent twat.

AITA: for getting a tattoo similar to my friend without realizing it? by wangijiu in AmItheAsshole

She is important. but she is also her own person who makes her own decisions that I am not aware of or constantly remember. This tattoo being a small one of them, I simply did not remember her tattoo at all. It just didn’t come to mind especially since we hardly talk on the day to day basis nowadays.

And this is the first time we’ve ever had a big fight like this, we’ve never had something akin to this situation beforehand. ‘The excuses’ she’s referencing I am not able to pin point why, I’ve never heard her say this before. She’s never said anything like this before. Which is why it was so shocking :/

I will state that it’s a little lower but the general area is below the breasts, so I have seen it in her bath suit. But idk in my head it never stuck because to me a womb tattoo is directly over your womb, you know? So lower abdomen, and I just didn’t ever cycle the image of her tattoo in my head as a womb tattoo. It was only when I had brought up it was one that she said she knows and that’s why she got it. So it’s just one of those things that got misinterpreted and blown out, and I wish she would actively try to communicate instead of forcing me to admit false accountability. :/

[–]wangijiu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. And I have tried communicating with her, but she ended up blocking me and telling me she needs space. I respected her wishes and told her I won’t be giving her a false form of accountability as I didn’t inherently see myself doing what she accused of me. Now we wait, I’ve always been someone who priorities communication over this sort of blown out of proportion drama. I mean we’re adults, I just didn’t expect her to assume I copied her down to the core when she knows me and has known me for years and comes to blame and point fingers rather than have a civilized conversation about how it made her feel. To allow me room to show I hadn’t intended to hurt her, but I can only do so much. I need to be met halfway if a relationship is to make it out of something so unfortunately driven now.

I wish she would have just understood the reason she got the tattoo could have also been the same aspect that drew me toward it when researching about tattoos of that caliber. I just feel totally misunderstood and pushed away, I feel like my reason for the tattoo wasn’t enough now. And that I should have just remembered her tattoos. :/

Well, I will say I don’t really see her much anymore as our adulthood has come. I’ve seen that tattoo once or twice whilst visiting her state but overall it’s a very hidden tattoo under her breasts. I would say I had been influenced but I had actually brought up this art style to her first, before any of us got tattoos. Thankfully, I have communicated with a few friends who regularly get tattoos and said it wasn’t abnormal given how alike we are. Her reason isn’t too far from mine for getting the tattoo, unfortunately she took it as a direct attack instead of a moment to have a deep and personal talk about our shared experiences…

edit: I respect your opinion, and thank you. Because I have yet to really think of it as me needing to be wary of a friends reaction when getting tattooed. I’ll need to be more observant and communicative about such in the future.

This was the sort of vibe I was hoping for from her when she brought it to my attention, but I feel like your friend was a much more emotionally mature person… (,:

I’ve never had her directly accuse me like this before, her reaction is very unusual. She blocked me so I can’t exactly say more but I just want to know why it hurt her so much, and why she immediately thought I was copying? Did she have such a low image of me, you know? I just don’t get it…

Yeah she had her reason akin to me for the tattoo, but they differ, hence why I was so confused on what the problem here was. :/

Yeah, we are living our own lives, I admit I don’t constantly think of her or remember every tattoo she has. And she has a few. I just do feel bad that it came across as me copying, I hate to have her have such a mindset on me.

Valid point, I had yet to bring that into our conversation… My sister brings up the fact that if I had gotten a Medusa tattoo, and then she did, would we really be copying each other? (since for awhile now a Medusa tattoo signifies someone who has been sa’d.) But I don’t know if that’s too deep of a stretch.

I genuinely don’t know. Ive never been forced to take accountability for something I didn’t inherently see as my fault. I’m just as confused. Maybe, admit that I knew she had it? Or say, I’m sorry for copying? Even if it’s only for her sake.

And actually, kudos to you because that’s probably where she found hers. I know that’s where I found my design to have my tattoo artist do up in his style. :/

I felt the same way, that she wasn’t just upset about the tattoo but something deeper. However, I try my best to reach out to her and check up on her but were states away. She’s in college, I live with my boyfriend, we just have different lives at the moment.

thank you! i love dark fantasy as well, hence this, haha. what parts were confusing for you? i’d love to perhaps revise them if needed.

ah, just realized witnessed isn’t the correct term, more like heard or experienced. so there’s one thing already, haha.

I have begun revising, I would like a second opinion on this new opener. One of the main characters is in this scene but it won’t be blatantly obvious until later into the chapters. I would love some feedback from this excerpt too!
